Massive Distributed Denial of Service attack, probably through a botnet of zombie computers, according to both status and the_lj_herald.

I can recommend the Herald as the best one stop shop for all LJ news, very very good.

I'm also getting comment notifications abot three hours late on avarage, currently :-(

ABEND! Ah! That word brings me back to the 60's. When my program crashed I would get this fifty-page printout of hexadecimal gibberish, starting with the word ABEND. I actually learned to pore through that stuff and find out what went wrong. Paper was cheaper than transient use of disk space in those days.
