State of Moi...and a call for Brit- and Spike-pickers

I apologize for not commenting back to people commenting here lately, but between "season of broke" activities, RL, and a fic-a-thon commitment I totally spaced on, I've been slightly overwhelmed.

[The "season of broke," as I not-so-fondly call it, tends to run from mid-April to mid-June, and again from mid-November to mid-January. The season of broke tends to be the areas where all major holidays, family celebrations, and unexpected expenses tend to crop up.]

For those of you wondering, yes, I will finish posting the following stories very soon:

The goal is to get these finished over the next month (and I do apologize for the delay). Part of it is that when I post a part, it takes me roughly 2 hours to do so, mostly because of formatting and final read-throughs pre- and post-posting of a part. Also, for whatever reason, "cutting and pasting" from any kind of word processing program into Firefox means that the blasted formatting won't hold.

Let's not even get into the mess IE makes of anything I cut and paste into that interface. I think the phrase, "It el suck-os the big weiner-o" is not out of line here.

In the meantime, I've got two other things to get out:

  • The annual [livejournal.com profile] lynnevitational fic-a-thon
  • A soopah-sekrit project which I can't say anything about right now (this one is on-going and won't be out soon)

My [livejournal.com profile] lynnevitational entry should be...ummmm...different. For me. It's something I've been kicking around for two years, but I've been hella nervous about throwing it out there. I suspect that someone, somewhere is going to be hella insulted by it and the premise, so I expect there might be some wank if I put it out.

That means I'll be needing eyes. I most especially need Brit- and Spike-pickers. I desperately need you.

I also need someone who's willing to read a story that is told from the point of view of someone who is, ummm, a little slow. Mentally. See, that's the potentially wank-tastic part. I need someone who's got a good sense of where the line is between good writing, bad writing, clichéd writing, and insulting writing. Looking at it from my (admittedly) limited PoV, it reads okay to me. It might not be okay for someone who lives with the issue every day.

If there are any volunteers (remember, I especially need Brit- and Spike-pickers), just reply here with a way for me to get in touch with you.
