Today was sunny and initially fairly cold. Then around mid-afternoon, it became warm (relatively speaking).

Give the schizophrenia of the environment, it's probably no wonder that I'm coughing like I've got TB.

This was taken at roughly 9 a.m., right after I chipped my car out its block of ice. Despite the fact that I was in a horrid mood when I took this, I have to admit that the shadows from the trees on the ice is rather pretty.

Is it Friday yet?

Still feeling blah-ness, although a little less like crap.

Even though the picture is darker, it was taken (believe it or not) at 9:15 a.m.

Yes, it took that long to clean the snow off my car and to change my coat (it was soaked through because of rain).

Gah! What an awful mix. Snow and rain. Bleh. The picture even looks it, too.

This one was taken at 8:30 a.m. on the dot.

I really love the sun rising just above the trees there on the left and the shine it gives to the ice on the river. The sky is pretty stunning overall.

Obviously taken in the morning because the Snot Monster (that would me moi) returned to workin' for a living.

Funny. Even within 5 days, I already see a change in the landscape. For a start, the grass in the foreground is a whole lot more visible than it was on January 1.

I kind of like the warm colors of sunrise in the sky. Just FYI, this was taken shortly after 8:30 a.m., so it wasn't that early in the morning.

This required an act of heroism to get today.

Not to mention use of my car because I simply lacked the energy to walk it.

Know what I hate more than being sick while on vacation? Being sick on the last couple of days, because no matter what happens, I have to go into work dead.

I have the world's most miserable cold today. Runny nose. Itchy throat. It came out of nowhere.

Figures. Just in time to return to work.

Even though the weather looks worse in this photo, the air is a whole lot warmer and a lot more pleasant than yesterday.

Also oddly enough, the ice on the water actually looks thicker than yesterday. Why this surprises me, I don't know. Yesterday it was roughly 17.0° F (-8.3° C), not including windchill factor. Today it was about 24.0° F (-4.4° C), with almost no windchill factor. It isn't like the temperature got anywhere above freezing, yet it felt like I could go outside without a coat and not freeze to death.

The metabolism of New England residents are a strange and wondrous thing. Best if we don't think about it, really.

And, yes, this photo was taken an hour earlier than yesterday's photo.

Idea shamelessly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] kurukami:

My strange project for 2009 is to take one picture a day of the exact same scene. Why? To track the day-to-day (and season-to-season) changes that occur over the period of a year.

I know there's going to be one or two breaks consisting of several days at a time in the next year due to personal travel. BUT, baring serious injury or illness, I'm going to try to upload a picture a day.

Then I figure at the end of every month, I'll put up a slideshow showing the change over time for that month. Then, at the end of the year, one big slideshow.

Wish me luck on this weird experiment!
