I Am, It Appears, Easy to Please
God knows everyone on my FList linked to this piece of Guh! (Spoilery for the BtVS comics since it's the Issue 2 cover.)
What d'ya know. It went from Web page to desktop wallpaper in .02 seconds flat.
What? Stop looking at me like that.
Still calling it comics!canon. And I'll wait on other people's thoughts on the series before I plunge into buying anything.
But, I appear to be ridiculously easy to please. The cover honestly makes me squee.
I am obviously full of squee today.
Edit: Squeeee! Lookit what
ponders_life gave me!

Have you seen the reaction around the buffy verse sites? It ranges from OMG! Squee! To Who the heck is that? To Oh yeah that's the Xander we all know and love! To OMG I can't believe that little back stabbing bastard is on the cover with Spike's woman. How dare he be in Spikes spot! (that last bunch of peeps sure make life funny)

Although I have to say one thing for people pissed about Xander on the cover: Dude, let it go already! Fictional character!

Damn that backstabbing bastard Nicholas Brendon for having the audacity to be like most actors in Hollywood in that he was born with a set of genes that make him, for better or worse, probably more attractive than the average citizen! Who does he think he is?
/end of sarcasm
(And really, how is Xander supposed to be "backstabbing" Spike, or Angel, or whoever, simply by being drawn on a cover with Buffy? All the Spander fic aside, it's not as if Xander and Spike were ever close friends, more like "begrudgingly tolerant of, and not really dealing with, each other if they could help it for Buffy's sake," by the end of the show. I'm surprised they're not bitching at Buffy for betraying Spike. God help us if Joss actually lets Buffy go on a date with anybody who isn't Spike in Season 8.)

Really? I'm glad all my flist are squealing and screaming (in a happy sort of way) about the cover. Being a Xander fan is really hard around boards.

I am weak like veal. I'm just gonna enjoy teh pritteh for awhile.

People are saying that? Wait, of course, there are idiots saying that. (Especially since we all know it's Angel forever.)

I've come down in the camp that I hope there's never any B/X because I think they'd be not-so-great for each other in a romantic way. They're too much alike in some ways, and too different in others.
I'd dig a close friendship though. God knows the two of them could actually use a close friend.

Although in most comic tie-ins, the comic versions of the characters rarely look all that much like the actors playing the characters. It's SOP for a number of different reasons, some of it for artistic reasons, some for legal reasons, and some for licensing reasons.

Heeeeee!
Seriously, though. 'Tis niiiiiiiice. Says nothing about the contents, but the prominent placement so soon gives me a slight stir of hope. Not enough to trust JW, no. I'm gonna wait until your reaction.

Ahhh, I remember the days of the massive pulls and spending $$$$$$ when I did them. Then I worked in a comics store and got comiced-out.
For now, I'm just going to enjoy the pretty, pretty Xander.

I'm holding off on buying, still. I'm in wait and see mode for the time being. The cover artist is known, according to
But you and I know: cover art! =/= interior art. Or actual story content.
But it sure is pretteh.

Oh my. *fans self*
You know what- I think you may be my barometer for whether I'll bother reading it. If you believe they got Xander right, then that'll be good enough for me. Though I do think my conception of Xander is a bit funnier than yours.

What? So I like comics and Xander at the same time! Joss has made me very happy. Also with the Andrew retcon! mmmmm... Now if only the comic series can *half* live up to this!

Unfortunately the summary still has me flip flopping on getting this, like you waiting for the reviews of Xander fans on this.:-)
The cover art has generally been good so far so dying to see the Faith covers.

I followed your links over the comics-canon-jossing issues, the other day. The TWoP link just lead to the main page of the Buffy discussion area, so I missed the actual kerfuffle. I'm happy we're getting this comic series, and probably particularly because of the TGiQ retcon, but that said, I've loved Whedon's works long enough to know no canon is set in stone.
Joss is the first person to admit he'll retcon something if it suits the story he wants to tell. He's done this with Spike's lineage, and has said he'd do it with the slayer line of succession, if he needed to, and plenty of other points of canon. Angel vacillated wildly between a man with a monster inside him that he had to subjugate, daily, to an-almost-separate entity than Angelus. And that's mostly fine with me. It's what he does. It's what he's always done. The up-in-arms nature of fandom is funny.
