Heee! TAR and 'Kitchen Confidential' and 'Bones' first pictures...

Okay, so Rob and Amber didn't win, but came in a very respectable second and they were gracious in defeat.

Besides, hard to beat the heart-warming story of Uchena and Joyce...mugged at the NEL and coming in first.

Overall, I am please with the result.

And a treat for people looking forward to Kitchen Confidential...

ETA: Added Bones with DB...

Geek pinup time!

Kitchen Confidential with NB, looking very un-Xander-like...

Rumor has it that Kitchen Confidential has already gotten the greenlight, but I can't seem to find confirmation anywhere.

Also, Bones with DB. Weird seeing him in sunlight.

Click on either picture for the full rundown on the pilots. You'll have to scroll down to get the skinny.

There are chef pants involved! We may have to fan [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat if this show makes the air. Given all the good press this one is getting (Even Boudrain is reportedly pleased...given that I've read the book, makes me wonder what the show is like) good shot we may get to see this come fall.

DOH! Spoiler tags, please!

Darn. And I wanted Romber to win. Guess I don't have to watch now. :(

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
Whoops!

I've added spoiler tags. Didn't think about people on the West Coast who haven't seen it yet.

*hangs head*

Sorry.

But you do soooo have to watch because it's a nail-biter all the way to the end.

[identity profile] hpchick.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Squeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

I want this show to be picked up so much.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
I suspect it will be because there's been roils of good press about it. Plus, it tested outstandingly well with audiences.

Even though this is FOX and they have a habit of yanking shows pretty fast, at the very least it'll hit the air.

I have to say, both NB and DB are looking mighty good in their pictures.

[identity profile] tesla321.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
DB looks frighteningly like Nick Lachey.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Hunh. I have no idea what Nick Lachey looks like, so I'll take your word for it.

[identity profile] tesla321.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
:waves fingers in time-honored Way Back gesture:

He's the co-star in DB's movie, "The Hard Easy," of which we were given pictures on MTV.

[identity profile] hpchick.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
It should be good. I just read the book. It was, um, interesting. I'm very curious about who each of the characters is based on. I wonder if one of them will be based on Adam?

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
From what I gather about the show, it sounds like it's based on a cross between Boudrain's time at Cafe Pino and any number of restaurants he rode to the bottom.

I'm definitely getting a WKRP vibe from it.

If I had to guess, Owain Yeoman (Steven) is probably the Adam stand-in.

It seems that FOX is already starting to put muscle behind KC, so good bet it'll hit the air and at least be given a chance.

I'm not too sure about Bones since I haven't heard/read too much about it, other than it's based on Reich's mystery novels. The thing is, there's a glut of police/forensic shows on the air. So between that and the silence around Bones, I'm somewhat less hopeful about that one.

[identity profile] monet599.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
NB *AND* Bradley Cooper in one show? ... hotties all around :)

And sorry to say, I'm GLAD Rob and Amber didn't win and that Uchena and Joyce did. I've been cheering those two on for most of the season and hating Rob and Amber for all of the season ;)

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, s'okay.

I have zero problems with Uchena and Joyce winning.

But, do0d...my man Rob is from my neck of the woods. Gotta root for the home team, dont'chya know.

And can I just say? Totally dig the icon. *grins*

[identity profile] monet599.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Lol! Well, cheering for a hometown favorite is a must... although, Ron comes from my neck 'o the woods and I wasn't really with the cheering, ya'll ;) Still, it was a good season seven - and Rob and Amber *DID* make it interesting.

And can I just say? Totally dig the icon. *grins*

Thank you - wish I could take cred; I kinda like it myself ;) You are a woman of my own Faith/Xanderness heart!

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I have to admit: Ron grated. Although he and Kelly did have a bad habit of bringing out the worst in each other, so I think it's kind of unfair to judge either one given the kind of personal stress they were under.

I especially felt bad for Kelly. One of her best friends was murdered 10 days before the race started, so I think she had double issues on top of everything else. Plus, there was no way she could possibly win in any smackdown against Ron because of his background. (I read this on TwOP).

The icon was actually made for me by [livejournal.com profile] mara_sho for an Faith/Xander essay I worte for [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto. I rec'ced your Road to Redemption series in my list of "fics you must read" in that.

Wish I could take the credit because the icon is one of the coolest I've seen in a while, but I think it was actually [livejournal.com profile] pugita who made it.

:)

Wow, I didn't know about the murder... and yeah, some of the stuff that she pulled out and that he pulled out, really ... I dunno, it was hard to take sometimes.

And I've read your essay through Map of the Heart site, and was extremely surprised (and flattered!) that my series was mentioned! Thank you, by the way :) I plan to post a link to it in facets_of_Faith sometime soon :)

Is it very, very wrong that I want Kitchen Confidential to be picked up and get lots of acclaim, and for Nick to wow everybody and get interesting stuff to do, just so somebody somewhere asks Joss at a convention or something what he thinks about KC and Nick's work on that show and what was so damned difficult about writing stuff for Nick to do when he was working on Joss's show, and what kind of lame non-answer Joss tries to pass off?

(Of course, I want Kitchen Confidential and Nick to succeed for other reasons, too. But I also want to see Joss squirm a little.)

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
The book is quite good, so I was rooting for it waaaaay before I knew who was in the cast. NB is like icing on cake for me.

As for BtVS? *shrug* In the past. I'm just pulling for the cast to move on and do good things for themselves so they don't get typecast. Lord knows, NB's role sounds about as un-Xander as you can get.

[identity profile] bastardsnow.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Also hoping it hits the air. The book was really good, and I'm always happy when actors from my shows do well. Also hoping Aly's pilot gets picked up, although it doesn't really sound, you know... intriguing...

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
That's the problem with Aly's pilot. It doesn't ping me as particularly good, plus it seems she's holding on to that guest cast spot on VM (which I admit I've seen one ep and it didn't thrill me).

Judging by the descriptions of KC, I think it's loosely based on Boudrain's time at Cafe Pino crossed with a couple of restaurants he rode down while they were crashing.

I'm getting a WKRP-like feeling from KC, given all the press about it.

Plus, it seems you're starting to see pictures from KC showing on sites that follow the television industry. Hell, Futon Critic had it on the front page for the FOX pilot coverage.

I've heard almost nothing about Bones, though. All I know is that it's based on Reich's mystery books, but I've never read any of them so I don't know much about it execpt that it's another forensic cop show. I suspect that it'll be a tougher sell.

We'll know May 19.

[identity profile] bastardsnow.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
There's a few others that look pretty interesting to me. Briar & Graves if it doesn't get sunk because it's too much like Revelations which sucked harder than a black hole hooked up to one of those Dyson vacuums.

Hrm... damn, looking through that site, i'm gonna have post my own hopes about what gets picked up... and I'll not waste your LJ space with that =)

But, yeah, I'll be cheering for KC on the 19th.

[identity profile] faithhopetricks.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
How did Uchenna and Joyce win that?! not that I'm at all disappointed, but Jesus, I thought Phil was going to walk up to them while they were still chopping onions and gently tell them it was over. Man. I think it was Uchenna's unwillingness to give up all the way....that was impressive. And Rob and Amber, aww well, at least this way they won't have to put up with winner backlash.

NB looks hot in that pic! -- I'd love to see him in a show doing something different from goofy lovable Xander; he was great at that, but he was also great as Hyena!Xander and Vamp!Xander, so it'd be nice to see him stretch. DB looks better than he did at the finale of AtS, too, altho I have a little less faith in his acting ability.

[identity profile] goosegirl9.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oohh. Bones should be great. I love the Temperance Brennan novels. I can hardly wait.

It's good to see NB in other things, too. I believe he is severely underrated as an actor. Some of my favorite BtVS shows are the few where he was more center stage. (*Not*, though, the one where he tried to kill Spike after seeing him with Anya. Although that was the fault of the writers' crappy script, not the acting!)

[identity profile] 4thdixiechick.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Cool pics!
And NB looks quite yummy, if non-Xander-like....

This was an awesome thing to see first thing in the AM!

[identity profile] ponders-life.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
O, happy me! Nick Brendon looks great, and the show sounds good! I'll definitely make time to watch it. ::bounce:: I have to admit my heart sank when I heard about NB's movie "Unholy" (both beccause I hate horror movies and I didn't want NB to get typecast) -- I'm thrilled to see him cast in what sounds like it's going to be an edgy comedy.

Not to self: Make time to read Kitchen Confidential

[identity profile] kaydee23.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for sharing these. My two favorites from the Jossverse working again. Yipppeee. Now, if Alexis, and heck, all the rest of them could get jobs on TV or in the movies again, I'd be really happy!

[identity profile] nwhepcat.livejournal.com 2005-05-11 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
We may have to fan nwhepcat if this show makes the air.

Fanning me may be a poor idea. Perhaps dousing me....

Except I want fancy Nicole Miller chef pants like Chef Billy!

Interesting..

[identity profile] greenshark.livejournal.com 2005-05-12 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
I was looking at that pic earlier today and I discovered that I find good looking men wearing kitchen aprons are HOT.
I guess it's similiar to my attraction to good looking men in Scottish kilts [e.g. Ewan McGregor]
