Happy New Year...
First off, special thanks to
ffutures for solving my short story mystery. Very cool. The Disappearing Act by Alfred Bester. I am so on my way to find that story.
On a second front, a drive-by Happy New Year to everyone out there. Okay, it's 8 p.m. here on the East Coast, but just getting in a little happy before midnight.
Thanks everyone for hanging with me here on LJ. It's been a treat meeting you all (some via comments, some in person).
Yes, before you ask, I'm one of those paranoid people who bunker down on New Years' Eve out of fear of drunk drivers. Having covered more than a few fatal accidents when I was a reporter, I've turned into such a wuss to the point that getting behind the wheel on the big drinking holidays makes me break out in a cold sweat.
Plans, plans, plans...well, I've got DVDs. I'm ordering take-out pizza. I've even worked a lot on Water Hold Me Down today instead of actually doing something useful around the house. So it's all going to be good.
See ya all next year!

Following that to the alphabetical list by author gets me to this page:

and down a bit gets me the many publications of Disappearing Act (eleven in all). None of them seem to be particularly recent, but I'd guess you can find one or another in a second-hand bookshop if you shop around.

I totally understand your position about the drunk drivers, but we braved the highway to attend
thank you
