Why I fLove Netflix...
I finished buzzing through Sledgehammer, Season One and am now happily making my way through Father Ted Series One and Two.
Oh, c'mon, you know you want to walk up to some people you disagree with and very calmly say, "Down with this sort of thing." Heeeeee!
I saw the episode 'Hell' the other night and the fabulous (but before he was famous) Grahm Norton was in a guest shot as a priest. The best thing is on the commentary track, one of the writers said he was supposed to play one of those young overeager young priests, but he played it so flaming incandescently across the sky that he practically walked off with episode. *loves*
I'm up to 'Tentacles of Doom' in S2. [Craggy Island's Holy Stone of Clonrichert is to be upgraded to a class II relic...don't ask.]
Anyway, I'm psyched to finally get a chance to see the whole Father Ted series. *happy dance* I had started catching it on Boston Channel 2, but the local Catholic Anti-Defamation League put pressure on our local PBS station to yank it off the air because it was insulting to Catholics (much to my mother's dismay because she simply adored this show). Since this was just as the pedophile scandal was breaking in the Boston Archdiocese (before we went nationwide with it), my mom was hard-pressed to understand how this show could be more of an insult to Catholics than the real life priests.
You must watch. It's fecking hilarious. (FECK! DRINK! GIRLS! DRINK!--Father Jack is one of those characters that shouldn't work but he soooo rocks.) I wonder how much of the humor is something only the Mackerel Snappers will get (I was raised Catholic, so trust me, I get aaaaaallllllll the jokes).
Today I'm in the middle of a serial killer spree, so I'm holding off getting Father Ted S3 until I watch Nova: Mind of a Serial Killer; H.H. Holmes: America's First Serial Killer (If you get a chance, you must read The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson because it is an unbelievably great history of Chicago World's Fair of 1893); a few documentaries about Aileen Wuornos, and Monster.
No, I don't know why the sudden serial killer interest. *sigh*
Anyway, I'll be going back to Father Ted after I'm done with this kick.
Also, brilliant news on the Netflix has dropped it's price to $17.99 a month. YAHOOOO!
I literally got one month free and an immediate drop in price.
Is it bad that I have 500 movies in my queue already? I think it very much is......
