liz_marcs: Jeff and Annie in Trobed's bathroom during Remedial Chaos Theory (Faith LH)

Quick thank you...

Ugh. I've been feeling like crap all weekend. Not sick enough to just let myself feel icky, but icky enough that I don't have any energy. Could be allergies. I used to have violent ones when I was a kid. Now fall and spring just brings on the malaise.

Oddly enough, I've been trapped writing (see? not sick enough to stay away from the keyboard). [livejournal.com profile] nwhepcat's b-day story has me trapped. I actually wrote the closing scene and a few other scenes this weekend.

I never thought I'd write characters deliberately acting badly, but I am. *headdesk*

See? No wonder why I feel compulsory about the story.

It also goes a long way to explaining why I'm not sure how I actually feel about it. I'm deliberately writing people OOC because the situation I set up is so twisted that it's almost a defensive response on the part of the characters.

I'm not sure it's going to work, so I'm waiting anxiously for beta feedback on some of the parts I sent out. I feel like I'm treading on dangerous territory here. Too far, and I'm hacktacular. Not far enough, and it's nothing more but the same-old-same-old from me.

Either way, I'm not 100% sure I can post this to Living History's test list. They'll eat me alive. Then again, that just makes me want to do it even more.

Well, [livejournal.com profile] bastardsnow, remember that wish you voiced when you gave me FB on the last part of Living History? You really shouldn't wish for shit like that at all because it got stuck in my head. So I blame you completely and totally for this.

Anyway, I want to give serious props for [livejournal.com profile] mara_sho for running The White Knight Awards and getting the results out so quickly.

She's worked so hard to build up I Need A Parrot and to revitalize a Xander-centric corner of the Web. She's got a tough job because she's had to balance a lot of competing interests to make it work.

Anyway, congrats to all the winners! And a huge thank you to all the people who congratulated me.

Here's my results:

Winner:
Best Characterization for Living History

Runner up:
Best Overall Author
Best Overall Fic for Living History
Best Friendship for Whisper

Thank you all who voted. And thank you [livejournal.com profile] mara_sho for running the awards.

Oddly enough, just finished my feedback and sent it off seconds before loading this page up. Hopefully it'll help.

Congratulations for your wins! You throughly deserve it.

Congrats on the wins!

Also on the ability to proceed in writing.

So any idea how many people voted ?

Congratulations -- totally deserved.

Woo! I'm blamed! Hey, if the beg/wheedle/cajole/whatever else I said actually gets what I asked for? Blame away! And the non-monetary bribe offer still stands.

And just for kicks... if you do post whatever it is, and it *does* piss them off... I will be pleased in the extreme because there's nothing like a little 'test list' anger to brighten up my day. Fun!

And also, congrats on your win/runneruppedness (is that a word?), from a voter/nominator.

Sorry, I just finished reading the part you sent. RL and the stupid Red Sox got in the way this weekend. I want to re-read it one more time before I do the feedback, w/out the Sox playing in the background. I promise to have it to you tomorrow night.

I really like it though.

Thanks Liz! You deserve every single vote you got and more!

I'm so sorry I've been a little neglectful about replying and keeping in touch, your support is appreciated more than you can know!

In total, there were well over 15000 votes cast which is just mind-blowing right now!

Congrats

Congrats on your wins! 15,000 voters, and you won that much? Yikes, that's a whole lotta people with good taste! [I didn't vote this time, found out about it the day before votes were tallied and I don't like voting without reading all of the entries.]
I never thought I'd write characters deliberately acting badly, but I am. *headdesk*
Pish. ME portrayed them deliberately acting badly, and in a few cases (When She Was Bad), it was some of the most compelling storytelling. In other cases, such as the Dark Willow arc, it was a hairsbreadth from being an amazing storyline, only marred by the magic crack nonsense absolving Willow from any participation in her own storyline...

The villainous Vampire Willow and Hyena Xander (and the not so villainous, but definitely OOC BuffyBot) seem to be some of the most fanfic-friendly iterations of those characters. We like the bad-boys (and girls). And lets not even mention Spike, or the popular Mayor Wilkins, for whom 'deliberately acting badly' is actually in-character. :)

Heck, I had Xander willingly choose to become a vengeance demon in one of my fics, so I'm in no position to criticize...

I'm just wondering where I can find more of that, since on FF.net you said that you're about 9 chapters ahead on your LJ... I absolutely love this story and have been very very naughty by reading it instead of studying for my HSC (A levels or Finals). I had an exam today and yesterday off, and where i had planned to spend yesterday studying, i spent it reading Living History. So Congrats and *wags finger at you* bad bad girl!

Congrats on all your awards.

*glomps and hugs and then trundles off to bed*
