Phobias on Aisle 5
via
honorh:
Sears Tower in Chicago has opened a glass balcony on the 103rd floor.
I believe I have mentioned several times in this journal that I have crippling terror of heights.
Just looking at the pictures made me go
And then I had to hide under my desk for 5 minutes until I calmed down.
Slide show showing people looking like they're floating in air if you're a freak.
Acrophobes like myself might want to give the pictures a big miss.

But, yeaaaaahhhh. I'm all, "Why are you not screaming and running away?"
I think everyone who was on that thing had to be blind. That's the only explanation why people weren't throwing up while standing in a class box 103 stories above the ground. Seriously.

Hell, I wouldn't even go in the building if I could help it. Standing in a glass balcony suspended up the city like that? Not going to happen. Assuming you could even get me in the building.

I've added it to my list of "100 Places You Must Stay Away From If You Don't Want to Die of a Heart Attack."

I'm flashing back to the lighthouse tower I climbed. Lordy, was that not pretty.
A definite place to never, ever go. EVER.

I keep flashing on, "What the hell were they thinking?!?"

Sears Tower officials have said the inspiration for the balconies came from the hundreds of forehead prints visitors left behind on Skydeck windows every week.
That was me, when I went to Chicago! Leaning as far over the protective rails as I could, taking pictures. :D
(If I go to "the Ledge", you can bet I will be oh-so-cautiously tiptoeing out upon it. Probably trying not to look down until I'm standing still. But I'll be on it!)
