So, who's posting through Dreamwidth?

I finally, finally, finally managed to get my Dreamwidth looking the way I want.

Yes, it looks like my journals on ElJay and EyeJay, but I know what I like and I know what works for me. It still needs a little tinkering (i.e., pulling over my icons and my customized mood theme), but on the whole it's up and running.

In looking at Dreamwidth, I'm actually thinking of using it to be my "centralized posting location" (so to speak), although I'm not 100% sure that it's the way I'm going.

So, my question to all you peeps out there is this: How many of you are going to be posting on Dreamwidth vs. ElJay vs. EyeJay, as in: all your posts are going to be pretty much the same between the two services?

I ask, because I'm trying to cut down on duplicate postings, especially now that I can actually see usernames on my Reading Page.

Gimme a shout-out to let me know.

I've been posting everything through Dreamwidth. I'll probably keep doing that. I read my flist on LJ, IJ is dead for me. I have a very small circle there. Here? No idea. I'm hoping that all my friends who migrate here will find me and friend me. I'm hopeless at finding anyone myself. Glad you see you here.

I thought I wouldn't use DW at all, but... LOVE it. Most of my flist is at IJ, and sometimes I post the same stuff, sometimes not.

My plan is to use Dreamwidth for fandom only, unlike LJ, which also gets into spirituality, bellydance, school, rantage about work, etc, or IJ which is a complete mirror of LJ. So if you're only interested in fic (own or recs) or meta by me (assuming you even are, which I don't assume), then following me on Dreamwidth would be the best option for signal-to-noise ratio.

I'm trying to move over here mostly. But I'm not crossposting. So, circle/friend/watch/read as you wish. Which I would expect anyway. :D

I crosspost some things and not others. It depends on whether the post is group specific or not. If I'm lazy and I don't have any of my accounts open, I use Semagic to post.

If I'm on DW I just crosspost. So far I haven't had time to fiddle with this account too much. I haven't even uploaded my icons 0_0. Jeesh I'm just now finishing up all the windows updates from my reformat last week. Sigh. Never enough hours in the day.

I still haven't decided. I'm leaning toward DW for more fannish things, as I have a lot of non-fandom friends on LJ who have no interest in moving.

[personal profile] ex_moondancer561 2009-05-12 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Well...I didn't realize you were on DW until this post (you're on one of my IJ accounts - nightstalker). I'm still trying to figure out what I'm doing here; beloved spouse (nephir @ IJ/LJ) doesn't have a DW account and says she's not getting one, but who knows.

On your crossposting issue with IJ - I've never had any problems xpost to any of my journals, but I typically use Semagic to post with in the first place -- except it's not as useful for DW due to differences in the code. I do like the built-in crosspost feature here, with the ability to direct folks here for replies.

At the moment, I'm cross-posting almost everything to DW, IJ and LJ, but I kind of regard DW as "home" these days and occasionally post stuff here that I don't post anywhere else.

I'm posting from DeeWee and crossposting to ELJay. When I'll get a paid account, I'll also crosspost to EyeJay.

IJ/DW: I'm now using DW to cross-post -- that interface is lovely! -- but I decided that I'd keep site-specific posts exclusive (e.g. DW community recs are on DW only, and so on). However, because some people said they'd like to read those but still wouldn't want to read all the double posts (understandably) I'm going to link them in the regular entries. So one doesn't have to keep both journals friended.

At the moment, most of my friends are staying on LJ, which is fine by me—I look forward to when the DW reading page will pick up on my friends page.

Because my friends are there, I'm crossposting everything currently. I might on occasions write stuff purely for LJ, and less likey I might write stuff purely for DW, but I doubt it—I like it here too much (plus SB bought a seed account, silly fule).

I plan to use Dreamwidth as my primary location, because of the automatic crossposting. Plus I can actually be plain moss here (instead of moss6886). Yay!

LJ is still my main reading list, though.

I'm kind of getting attached to DW as my central posting ground, but since the majority of my FList is remaining at LJ, I'll be cross-posting the majority of posts. Sooper Sekrit Friends Only personal whining posts will probably remain locked up over at LJ, since most of the people on that filter are over there.

So, um... I guess it's up to you where you want to cut me. *G* I also still cross post to IJ as well, though I almost never get comments there.

Starting with my next post, though, I'll be cross-posting from DW as my hub, if that makes sense.

I will be using Dreamwidth as much (maybe more) than LJ, I think I'm one of those persons who love to complicate their lives so I will crossposts some times but there will be things that I'll post in LJ but won't do here, and there will be things I'll post here that won't be found over LJ.

The reason is that most of my friends are in LJ therefore, my personal stuff will be there, my DW is open and will be uncomplicated. IJ is pretty much dead, which is a shame but I'll crosspost my open posts there so basically it'll backup this journal.

Is great to find you here. :)

I'm planning to post to both, now that I have my old posts imported.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I just finished tonight with the whole importing thing. (My life has gotten busy...busy...busy...)

I don't even want to think about all the tagging I have to do on both sides. One thing importing showed me is that my tags are a mess.

[identity profile] madripoor-rose.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just namesquatting on DW and never intend to post there.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Fair enough. :-)

I'm just trying to figure out who's doing all-out duplication and who isn't.

[identity profile] tnrkitect.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
I will be posting on DW, using the cross posting feature to LJ. Not everyone on my F-list is/wants to migrate to DW.

[identity profile] tnrkitect.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and deciding which service gets my $$$ and becomes my true default will depend on how DW works out between now and January. (Though I am still mighty tempted by a seed account)

[identity profile] bastardsnow.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely not going all out over there, and not really intending to duplicate. I'm not entirely certain what I'm going to use DW for yet, and I'll probably end up posting my fic there, but I haven't quite gotten a good handle on it yet.

[identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't started posting on DW yet. But if (when) I do they'll be the same. I don't have enough content for 2 places!

[identity profile] komichi.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'll be posting to DW and using DW as my main account but cross-posting everything to LJ. :)

[identity profile] julia-here.livejournal.com 2009-05-12 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to use Dreamwidth to post re-edited versions of my fics, first, and LJ for photography and personal wibbling and any new stories I might miraculously write.

Julia, who knows, every day's full of new possbilities, right?
