Wow! That was kind of fast!

Between the nutritionist helping me to get on top of my food allergies, the before-work gym sessions, and one 2-hour session of kayaking, I've lost 11 pounds in 7 weeks.

This is per my scale this morning.

Look, I know that sounds slow to some of you people out there, but still...

That's an average of 1.6 pounds a week.

Excuse me while I celebrate.

That is what we call a healthy and sustainable weight loss. RAWK ON!

That doesn't sound slow, that sounds textbook perfect!! (Any faster and your skin can't bounce back, and who wants flappy skin?)

Way to go, glad you're feeling stronger and healthier!

That's wonderful! Go you!

I am sooo envious. I need to get my big ol' butt back into the gym.

[identity profile] huzzlewhat.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That's wonderful! Sounds steady, sustainable, and healthy — absolutely nothing that will screw up your metabolism.

The slowness could be deceptive. My sister thought her weight loss was going slowly until her doc did a second body fat measurement and found that she had put on a significant percentage of muscle for every pound of fat lost. If you're working out, that might be what's happening. And is also awesome, because steady muscle gain will help with the weight loss even more.

Congratulations! Slow & steady + exercise you love is just about perfect. I need to find something like that...

PS -- how's your dad doing?

[identity profile] spiralleds.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
That's great! Go, you!

I wish I could send you awesome weather for more kayaking as a celebration! Go you!

I think that sounds absolutely wonderful. Congratulations!

No, that's really good. anything over a pound a week is excellant. And this is the kind of weight-loss that's prone to stay off, too.

Julia, now that I'm on the Nikon Diet and Exersize plan, I'm losing weight, but my blood sugars are still weird.

That's a lot of weight. I bet you've lost even more inches because you're exercising and reshaping your body. I bet you feel great. Congratulations!

[identity profile] soundingsea.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Great job! All the good health and fitness will just make kayaking that much more fun!

please don't take this the wrong way, but I hate you! (Jealous, cuz every time I lose some weight I just gain it back again...)

I wish. It seems like a lot to me. I really need to lose 15 lbs. Have for the last 10 years. Congratulations on your success.

I remember first doing taebo basic after years of inactivity. The difference it made...

*pause*

"Yo, Xan, beer me."

"Hey, Faith, we're supposed to be kayaking down the Charles and communing with nature."

"A Sammie is what I call an integral part of being with the universe."

"And not a Marlboro?"

"Hey, I'm reformed."

"Again, remind me why I'm doing the paddling."

"'Cause you're the manly outdoor guy who canoed up the Congo."

"When we practised this, you went fast enough Dawn was waterskiing behind the kayak."

"Xan, c'mon, I'm a delicate flower of Bahston womanhood here."

"Delicate?"

"Yeah, I got a parasol 'n shit somewhere."

"Flower?!"

"Pushed it there, didn't I?"

"Just a bit."

"Shut up and paddle, Cyclops. I'll watch the geese."

"Yes, dear."

Go you! ::applauds::

[identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
1 - 2 pounds per week is exactly the right amount to lose. Faster than that tends to be unhealthy.

So go you!

[identity profile] arpzilla.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Kayaking love! Being as close as I am to rivers and beaches, I have no idea why I'm not out there doing it on my days off. My friend found a place in Wilmington, though, and I've been thinking about buying my own kayak.

Keep up the good work! Slower weight loss is better, as everyone else pointed out. Glad to hear it's going well!
