How do I import Smooth Sailing over to Dreamwidth?

I've followed the directions several times.

I can get the journal "look" right, but for some reason it keeps taking out the identity and icons of people who comment on Dreamwidth.

Really. It's making me bang my head against the wall at this point. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I've followed directions from here and here.

Any help would be appreciated...

Go bother support. No, seriously, you'd be doing them a favor. You're probably not doing anything wrong, Dreamwidth is in beta and all the kinks aren't worked out yet. A bunch of glitches have already been found and fixed. (I personally ran into a few, you're not alone.)

I think it's because Smooth Sailing isn't available at Dreamwidth. The available styles are here.

Theoretically, that list is the styles you're allowed to use—there are virtually no styles available, hence I'm reteaching myself how to hack S2.

But it should be possible to copy/paste the source layer from LJ—LJ may then tell you off if they wish as they own the rights to it, but DW aren't blocking the import of proprietary themes.

@Liz, it's possibly worth not worrying too much, they're doing so much work on the style system at the moment, very very soon it should be possible to do a much better layout (the new modules functionality is very cool) that looks like SS but is simply better.

That's the plan, anyway.

Ah, okay, I understand.

I'm currently fighting with unstyled bloggish over there myself. It's not behaving. ;)

That explains it a bit.

Thanks!

I've been fighting with it also, but I keep getting a compiling error. ggrrr. If you get it to work I'd love to know how.
