AAAAAAAAH! I Told You Mount Washington Was Evil!

Mount Washington tried to kill two people!

I knew it! I knew all along that Mount Washington was evil!

According to the Boston Globe two guys rode an avalanche 800 feet down the mountain side when they got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Check out the oh-so-helpful and not-at-all-terrifying diagram from the Globe:

I just have one thing to say about this...

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

When I did search and rescue I went to avalanche school. It is really scary when they bury you in the snow! I can only imagine the real thing is like 8 trillion times scarier.

Let me repeat:

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Exactly.

Bwahahahaha!

*ahem* Sorry. As a fellow acrophobe, and grandchild of an active mountain hiker, I should have more empathy. But the blinking red text... combined with the backstory... oh, dear. ::giggles manically::

Hmmmm....

I'd have to say more mischievous than evil. One has to go to some effort to give a couple of guys the ride of their life without seriously injuring them...

Does it make me a bad friend that your "mountain top experience" is one of my favorite posts?

You'd never get me climbing up that mountain, way too much can go wrong.

This is only one of the ten thousand reasons that I think people who climb mountains are nuts. I'll be over here with my feet at ground level.

*chuckle* you know, the top of Mt. Lecomte down here in TN is very nice and wheelchair accessible even!

Of course, it has none of the fun bits that make your tip to Mt. Washington such an entertaining read...

the last time...

we went hiking up that way, my spousal unit tore his meniscus and kind of ruined his part of our honeymoon.

needless to say I think those two guys had a much worse time than we did.

Mt Washington is evil

I'm imagining Xander confronted with Pennywise the clown, here.

Well, possibly Willow and a giant toad, but that would involve more choked squeaking sounds.

Just looking at that picture practically turned my bowels to water.

I had flashbacks of going hiking with my dad as a wee kidlet and sliding down inclines because I couldn't get a grip. (Probably these were baby hills, but the memory scarred me for life).

You will never convince me to go mountain hiking!

AAAAAAAAAGHHHH!!!

The Canadian weather services have been broadcasting: DO NOT GO UP IN THE MOUNTAINS, THERE IZ AVALANCHE CONDITIONS! for a couple of weeks now.

A mountain isn't evil because it can't be bothered to watch out for the fleas climbing on it...

Well, Tuckerman's IS evil, true. But Mt Washington is just misunderstood, really. It had a difficult childhood...
(You have to wonder what the heck they were doing there in April, when the snow pack is warming up and melting...)

Some people said that surfing on an avalanche couldn't be done.
Today (chugs Mountain Dew) we prove them wrong.
EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEE

(I am glad they're okay and without any serious injuries.)
