As you can tell from my icon...
In case you're wondering, why yes! I've succumbed to the Internet hype. I am, indeed, buying Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The way I figure it is, I like Pride and Prejudice, and I like zombies.Yeah, this doesn't exactly tax anyone's brain on why I pre-ordered this puppy from Amazon, does it?
The author, Seth Grahame-Smith, so so excited about how well the book is pre-selling. It's actually kind of cute.
As for my asking about Twitter....WOW! Lots of food for thought there. I'm still reading over the responses.
ETA: For those of you who've been thinking that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was an Internet meme gone out of control, here's the description of the book from the publisher's Web site:
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies — Pride and Prejudice and Zombies features the original text of Jane Austen's beloved novel with all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie action. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton — and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she's soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers — and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead. Complete with 20 illustrations in the style of C. E. Brock (the original illustrator of Pride and Prejudice), this insanely funny expanded edition will introduce Jane Austen's classic novel to new legions of fans.
I've also been reliably informed by my correspondents that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has already been optioned to be made into a movie.
You know...I'm strangely excited about this. Because I DO WANT! WANT VERY MUCH!

I'm really not a fan of zombie stories.

I fall in and out of love with zombies myself. Right now, I'm back in love. Why? Because you cannot wobbie-fy a zombie. Ever.

I was going to hold off ordering it until other people had read it, but my patience was simply beaten down because I want to read this.
You know, it isn't like I haven't read the original book, like, OHMIGAWD, a zillion times and I haven't watched the Ehle-Frith mini something like a dozen times. (Not to mention that I own the special anniversary edition. Oh, no. Not at all.)
The only thing that could possibly be better is werewolves attack and eat the entire cast of Wuthering Heights.

What's his next - War and Peace with Daleks? -- No, that's right, Daleks aren't in public domain yet, he'd have to go with generic aliens.
I'm Not impressed.

(I really thought you were joking there for a bit)

Also, if this catches on, I'm looking forward to Northanger Abbeynormal and Tess of the D'Ubervamps.

Columbia Pictures is adapting Lost in Austen, a British time-traveling TV miniseries about a modern-day woman who finds herself living the life of a fictional heroine, for the big screen, Variety reported. Sam Mendes (Revolutionary Road) is a producer.
The film will center on Amanda, an ardent Jane Austen fan, who lives in present-day New York with her boyfriend, until she finds she's swapped places with Austen's fictional creation Elizabeth Bennet. I guess Elizabeth Bennet is still a hot commodity 200 years after she was created.

There really must be something in the air that's very contagious. What'll pop up next?
