Yes We Did!

It's been called for Obama!

Now the real work begins...

Awwww. There are African-American news people and politicians on the verge of tears they're so happy. ♥

Damn it...I'm starting to cry again.

President-elect Obama. Goddamn. I'm crying again.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Just about everyone I talked to had voted. ♥

So it was kind of boring tonight, but boring in a good way.

[identity profile] omegar.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I am wondering what the overall turnout will be. That is what has helped caused the change.

Still your party has done good.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
They're estimating between 70% and 80%. At last that's the noises I've heard.

[identity profile] omegar.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
winning Florida is probably the best part!

[identity profile] spiralleds.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
God bless 'em for holding it together at all, given how this white girl is way past the verge of tears. I'm just so happy on so many levels.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a bit sniffy right now myself.

It was Rep. Lewis shaking voice that put me right into tears.

[identity profile] crowgirl13.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've never experienced anything that nerve-wracking. Go Team Us! [I'm so proud of New Hampshire. And Ohio.]

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!

We are in this together, yo. ♥

[identity profile] crowgirl13.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs*
Yeah, I might have been thinking about that theme song too.

We are! And it's so good to see it again.

[identity profile] stephanierb.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:26 am (UTC)(link)

I just can't stop crying. I'm going to completely lose it when Obama speaks in Chicago.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yes..yes I will, too.

McCain is being gracious, but the crowd is just not having it. I feel bad for him. He's uncorked the genie and doing his damnedest to recork it.

[identity profile] secondalto.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
I've never been prouder to be an American or an Ohioan.

Congrats. I wish you all the strength to undo the damage of the last 8 years.

Now to prepare breakfast for the teenager and send her off to school.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's going to be a long, hard slog. On that, I'm sure.

[identity profile] bastardsnow.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
EVEN MY STATE WENT FOR OBAMA OMG!

My county = the difference maker. Yay Fairfax!

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
*twirls you around and then hugs you tight*

We did it! We did it!

I thought I'd never see Virginia go blue. Never, ever.

*psssst* I have a bet that Montana will, too. Just a feeling...*

[identity profile] bastardsnow.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Looks like North Carolina and Indiana too. Those three would put it at 367... which is 8 under AP's old standard for a landslide.

[identity profile] bastardsnow.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Also MASSSIVE HUGS!!!!

[identity profile] midnightsjane.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
CANADA CONGRATULATES YOU!!
At least, all the Canadians I know!! There are parties all over the city, celebrating here.
This was an awesome demonstration of the power of the people to come together for the sake of their country. Bravo!!
As you say, now comes the hard part.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
There's so much damage. I have no idea where we'll begin.

And remember...Bush is still in office for two more months.

*fingers crossed*

It will be nice to have a president that doesn't assume that the people who oppose him are traitors. It'll be so, so nice.

[identity profile] cafedemonde.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I boo-hoo'd too. *lot of o's here*

[identity profile] fierydream.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yes!! You did it!! :D :D

*\o/*

Yay for y'all from Canada!

[identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
DUDE! People are driving up and down Mass Ave blaring We Are the Champions and screaming. It's like the world series or something, but so much better!

[identity profile] jakeexperience.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
This is an EPIC WIN. I feel so happy.

[identity profile] invisionary.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
The AP just called Indiana for Obama. Bush won that state by 21 points in 2004. Talk about a political sea change.

[identity profile] heliophile-oxon.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
Heartfelt congratulations from across the pond! And heartfelt hopes for undoing some of the damage ... It really leaves you breathless to think of people who lived under legal segregation in the US in their youth - and now !?!?!? ::mind reels::

[identity profile] odogoddess.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
We did, didn't we? :) *hugs*

[identity profile] hlforever.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
What's this weird feeling? Is it, is it pride? Pride for my country, of all things?

I really didn't think America could/would do it. But they did. Now I just pray that Obama won't mess up.

Oh, and it was really surreal watching election day from Japan. Oddly nerve wracking as well.

[identity profile] starbuck-a-dale.livejournal.com 2008-11-05 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
Problem is, now he's got to lead. I'm glad Obama got elected too (DAMN I am, we had a election party in my flat and I don't even live in the US) but he's only human. With this level of build-up, will he be able to live up to the hype? He's got a bloody hard job in front of him sorting out the whole sub-prime mess.

[identity profile] physicsteach.livejournal.com 2008-11-06 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Did you see Condoleeza Rice lose it during her interview? The emotion of the thing is crossing party lines.
