Signs That You've Been Watching The Wire Too Much...

I am already in the middle of my third re-watch for the whoooooooole series in preparation for the release of Season 5 in 6 days.

(Keep in mind, I've owned these DVDs less than three months and I'm on my third re-watch. And I keep finding new shit every time I watch. This frightens me.)

Sign that I've been watching The Wire too much: I have the overwhelming need to write a Buffy the Vampire Slayer/The Wire crossover. Said crossover will star Xander (natch), Faith (natch), and...Omar?!

I suppose I should blame Angel the Series for introducing Orpheus into canon, right?

Someone cut off my hands before I go this cracktrastic.



PeeEss: I also have a name in my head for it. The Special Dead. Yeah, I'm in the middle of watching Season 4 right now. I think I was triggered by The Boyz (I <3 The Boys...) speculating that Chris was "The Zombie Master" of Baltimore.)

hmmm Do i want to pick up yet another TV series to watch.....I don't think i can afford it (time or money) but i am sure it would be fun!

Heeeee! I've already been reliably informed from some British correspondents that deciphering the accent on The Wire is a lot like Americans deciphering a BBC production where the entire cast speaks in a Cockney accent that's thick enough to slice bread....as in, don't watch without subtitles.

Never fret, though...a lot of Americans can't suss out the accent on first pass either. (This is what God invented subtitles that you can turn on while watching the DVDs...)

What makes the whole thing really funny is that half the cast is from the UK and Commonwealth Nations...and they are using the very specific Baltimore patois and are dead on in the accent. I was honestly shocked when I heard some of them in interviews using their own accent. I would've sworn up and down that every single one of them were from somewhere on the east coast.

I always Love David Tennant doing interviews. out comes his Scottish accent, the doctors accent seems so natural that you forget that it is being put on.

I suppose its a sign of a good actor that you don't realise the characters accent is totally different than the actors.

As soon as the season 5 DVDs come out, I'm going to do a rewatch, too. I think it'll be cool to see the entire series from beginning to end, because the continuity on this show is great.
