Work wasn't that great... things aren't working as well as I'd hoped, and we have all of Monday to come up with the final version before the deadline. Brilliant planning, I'd say. But at least I'm having fun with Blue Dragon. I got up to a boss that's more or less impossible to defeat without Black Magic, and just happened to have one character who'd learned that skill... my attacker. At least the devoted healer/barrier mage got to do what he does best.
He snuck out to the porch to escape the triage of the living room.
"Come to kick the wannabe?"
Looking towards the words, he saw the cherry lit point of a cigarette in the far corner.
Counting on her night vision, he just shook his head.
"Did you ever get the details on graduation day?"
"Kinda slept through it, Harris."
Oh yeah, not a happy tone.
"I was in charge of the ground troops, the rest of the graduating class. Most of them had never held a weapon and I gave them crossbows and stakes."
"Sounds like a party." But there was a hint of interest in the derision.
"We won."
"Bully for you."
"Not really, a lot of them died. Because I asked them to face demons. We should have told them to leave, to skip the ceremony but fate of the world meant losses. Losses meant dead friends."
"Do you need a Kleenex?"
He shook his head. She wasn't getting it. "We're in a war. Slayers only risk themselves, but not now. Buffy said we're an army; armies lose people. I lost people. Doesn't make it a bad plan. Doesn't make you a bad leader."
"Makes for a sucky day, night, whatever."
He must have known, he'd brought out two beers. He sat down beside the Slayer, handing over a bottle.
I'm sorry you had such a bad day. Coffee? Pamper yourself a little when you get home:)
My day has been quiet, in fact the whole week has been quiet. I just popped Die Harder in my DVD drive and watched it. And I've got some fic I want to read. Then I may screw around with a mood theme I found. I'll probably watch Stardust tomorrow night. I've started my BTVS DVDs over again at season 1 and I'm working my way through them. So yeah, quiet and calm.
Must be something in the air, cause my day kinda sucked too. Topped it off by a 2 hour traffic jam of a drive home. I was so glad to walk into my apartment and close the door on the world tonight.
