We won!

Massachusetts Legislature Preserves Equality Marriage 45 — 151; Same-Sex Marriage Ban Shot Down

A heart-felt thank you to the State Legislature for finally putting the nail in the coffin.

Massachusetts citizens stunned and amazed that sanity finally won

"Stick a fork in this issue, it's done," sez one relieved citizen. "Our long state-wide nightmare is finally over."

Who'd you rather hang out with?

These guys....

You'd think I did it all by myself, wouldn't you?

Yay! *dancing in the street*

Someday, they will do the same thing in NJ.

A lot of states in New England are edging around it now. I think it's a matter of time for the northeast region. Ten years from now, we're gonna wonder what the fuss was about.

Nice to see some good news pop up =) Hopefully our efforts in my state will reach similar levels of success one day.

It's a matter of time. All you need is one.

*twirls you*

Yay Mass! Unfortunately, I think getting all my friends to move to Boston is going to prove impossible...

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2007-06-14 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*wheeee!*

Pity, maybe they'd like to spend some tourist time in-state? *beams*

Seriously, though. This is fantastic news for all of us here in the state.

Thank heavens!

Those elsewhere grateful for the example Massachutes has set are thrilled as well.

My home state continues to make me proud.

[identity profile] kurukami.livejournal.com 2007-06-14 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Woohoo! *dances gleefully*

For some reason, I feel like paraphrasing an old conservative line to the opponents -- "Hey, if you don't like it, leave!" *gives certain conservative states a stare*

I'm glad the precedent will remain alive and kicking. We need a place where it is working to show all others it's possible.

Holy cow. I wasn't going to say anything earlier but I was fairly sure humanity's worser nature would take hold once again and that the ban would pass.

Every so often people manage to really impress me. This is fantastic news. I wish I were there to participate in the party.

I ♥ Massachusetts!

[identity profile] halfmoon-mollie.livejournal.com 2007-06-14 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
A few weeks ago I saw Cheryl Wheeler in concert, and one of the stories she told was the one about herself and her partner Kathleen getting married when the law was passed. It was very touching.

I'm glad to see the people in Massachusetts have more sense than a lot of people elsewhere in the country - although our *new* Gov is talking about NYS being next.

So. YAY.

[identity profile] lizziebelle.livejournal.com 2007-06-14 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Every time I get mad at this state for doing something dumb, I remind myself that this is the only place my gay friends can get married, and all is good.

Congrats - very good news.

Who'd you rather hang out with?

Tough call, the ones screaming histerics or the ones who look sane? Mhm...

And also, *squees like there's no tomorrow*, my ex-girlfriend and her girlfriend live in Boston now. *beams*

This is *AWESOME* news!!!!

That's really awesome news. I always fear the fundie bigots will have their way in these things, so I'm pleasantly shocked when it doesn't happen.

No question which crowd looks more pleasant to hang out with!
