Friday (now Tuesday) Random Ten...

ETA: I can post! I can post! Hoooraaaaaaay!

This was originally posted over on my InsaneJournal and my GreatestJournal on Friday.

MP3 downloads under the cut.

Friday Random 10
Download the Tunes from the Random 10 Project Page

Lies — The Waifs
[Support the Artist]
The people at the top, are hidden far from view;
They're not goin' to show their faces
To the likes of me and you.
You never see them on the street;
Always see the things that they do
They know they can get away
And no price is too high for them to pay.

Buddy Holly — Weezer
[Support the Artist]
What's with these hommies dissing my girl?
Why do they gotta front?
What did we ever do to these guys that made them so violent?

Brother — Toad the Wet Sprocket
[Support the Artist]
I find my brother in there,
Deep in my heart.
I find my brother in there,
Hold in my arms,
I love you.
And if I seem too quiet now,
There are no words to tell you how
I love you

The 'F' Word — Bad Astronaut
[Support the Artist]
And here I am out of your focus.
It comes down to you,
The direction that you choose,
The choices in our lives,
And you choose to live in spite

(The Legend of) Miss Baltimore Crabs — Hairspray (Original Broadway Soundtrack)
[Support the Artist]
VELMA: Would you swim in an integrated pool?

(The Council Members gasp.)

TRACY: I sure would. I'm all for integration, it's The New Frontier!

VELMA: Not in Baltimore, it isn't! And may I be frank?
First impressions can be tough.
And when I saw you, I knew it.
If your size weren't enough,
Your last answer just blew it!
And so, my dear, so short and stout
You'll never be "in"

VELMA & COUNCIL GIRLS: So we're kicking you out!

We Shall Overcome (Live) — Pete Seeger
[Support the Artist]
We shall overcome,
We shall overcome,
We shall overcome, some day.

Some Unholy War — Amy Winehouse
[Support the Artist]
We put it in writing,
But who you writing for?
Just us on kitchen floor.
Justice done,
Reciting my stomach standing still,
Like you're reading my will.
He still stands in spite of what his scars say;
I'll battle till this bitter finale.
Just me, my dignity and this guitar case

Kill the Messenger — Shawn Colvin
[Support the Artist]
They are holding out one righteous hand,
While the other leads the marching band.
In the shadow hymn of the scratchman,
Heed the message, kill the messenger.

The Bad Homecoming (Waiting) — Dean Gray (mash-up of Green Day's Homecoming and Are We the Waiting and U2's Bad and Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own)
[Support the Artist]
My heart
Is beating from me,
I am standing all alone.
Please call
Me only
If you are coming home.

You don’t have to put up a fight.
You don’t have to always be right.
Let me take some of the punches,
For you tonight.

Fiend Club — The Misfits
[Support the Artist]
We won't pretend that this is the end;
We're not losers all of the time.
We march and we fall,
We're one and for all.
It's just evil all of the time...
All the time...

Enjoy the Friday Tuesday Random 10!

Yay you can post yay!

The circle is finally getting smaller. :-)

I'm just glad I finally have access because...dude...I was starting to get paranoid. I mean, you finally got posting access this morning, and there I was all "Bwhuh? What about meeeeeeeeeeeee?"

Not that I'm paranoid these days or anything.

Oh my god! A freak flag theme, and nothing from Hair! Honey, honey, honey, do we have to remediate your music collection?

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2007-06-05 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahhhh, but you see? For my generation it's Hairspray. And I'm talking the original non-musical John Waters movie and not the Broadway Soudntrack (which is actually awesome).

Besides, I have no Hair at all in my collection. So, hence, no Hair.

Wait...that sounds so wrong, doesn't it.

[identity profile] hilleviw.livejournal.com 2007-06-05 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude. You, of all people, must have Hair. When is your birthday, anyway?

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2007-06-05 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
December. :-)

Sagittarius rocks!

I know, Hair is a gap. But cut me some slack, I've just started digging into Randy Newman's oeuvre, so I'm probably making my way into the direction. :-)

Oh, I meant to tell you: Human Sexual Response is fantastic! Thanks for the CD.

[identity profile] hilleviw.livejournal.com 2007-06-05 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought that would be up your alley; I love both albums but have a particular weakness for Fig 14. Roman Mood is very Boston, though. Well, December's too long to wait. Also, there's a fantastic album of covers of Newman songs called Sail Away...highly recommended.

[identity profile] kurukami.livejournal.com 2007-06-05 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It does. Only I should be able to get away with lines like that. ; )

[identity profile] julia-here.livejournal.com 2007-06-05 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course, the use of "freak flag" started my brain playing a song not on your list- probably the worst song on Deja Vu, "Almost Cut my Hair."

Julia, been flying a freak flag for around half a century, more if you talk to my cousins

Hee! My 1st thought too... my freak flag is white now... and while it's (ACMH) certainly not my fav either, I still LOVE hearing Croz sing it!

[identity profile] faithhopetricks.livejournal.com 2007-06-05 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
OMFG you can post again! Huzzah!

(OK, I was wondering in some moments of bad paranoia there if MAYBE you couldn't post because you had been the original go-to person about the whole recent furore....I wouldn't've known what was going on at all if not for you. But, um, I appear to be at least hypomanic at the moment, so that's probably wayyy off-base.)

[identity profile] spikendru.livejournal.com 2007-06-05 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)

Thank you! dl'ed some that were unfamiliar to me... being an elder flag flyer, it's important to keep up with the new flag bearers.

Nice selection! And a music site I haven't played around on yet! Woot!!

For flying the freak flag...

They made a statue of us
and put it on a mountain top.
The tourists come and stare at us.
Blow bubbles with their gum.
Take photographs for fun. For fun.

-- Regina Spektor's "Us"

I didn't download anything, but thanks for the suggestions and I will be checkin' them out on iTunes.
