Still can't post...

El-Jay is officially pissing me off. Still can't post anything other than very short posts, and I still can't do anything even perform administrivia like backing up my journal.

If you're in the same boat I am, open a support ticket following these guidelines. Then check out and see just how many of us appear to be having issues.

It appears that SixApart/LJ is getting hosed by the DDoS attacks.

Yup, I'm in the same boat. I even posted a second support request re: not knowing if the IP address I gave the first time around is the right one (due to the fact that we're running off a router and I'm confused about whether the # that website gave me as our IP address is correct or not.) No one's responded to that, though, so I'm still waiting.

It's no wonder that GJ and IJ are hopping. No one can post here. I swear, it's almost like people are now getting reinforced that they have to start going elsewhere.

Nope, not helping one bit. I can't post even a single comment from Safari (which is on the downstairs computer) and I can't even tell you how many times in the past three days I've written a comment, hit post, and... waited... and waited... and then remembered that it wasn't going to go through. Ugh!

I've been kind of watching the support board for the past couple of days, and I saw one person who posted her support ticket as about 8 different ones (within the same request) because that was the only way she could get it to go through.

It's weird - I'm getting hosed from work by the DDoS attacks, but not from home. The problem is that I really don't want to give them the IP addy of the Big National Corporation that I work for. Mostly because I'm not supposed to be posting from there.

Strange; no issues reported by any of my UK based friends. Ah well.

Liz; been planning to do a write-up/how to on self hosting a journl with Wordpress and using LJ as an aggregator/finder instead; allows for cross posting, multiple blogs & users, etc. Given the amount of money fandom spends per year on paid accounts I reckon clubbing together for shared hosting is the best way to go m'self; reseller packagers are dirt cheap.

Would that be something of interest, as it'll take a bit of effort. Don't think jumping to a clone is the best approach, they'll always be behind the curve on developements, etc.
