On Television Tonight: Frontline/American Experience on The Mormons

I know that there are a few people on my FList who are interested in the subject matter, so this is me giving the heads up.

PBS's FRONTLINE and The American Experience have teamed up to co-produce a four-hour, two-part documentary on The Mormons.

Check your local PBS station for the schedule.

For people outside the U.S., or people who won't get to record the documentary, given that this is PBS, I suspect that after broadcast you'll probably be able to watching streaming video of both episodes online.

Interestingly enough, both FRONTLINE and The American Experience are produced by WGBH in Boston, which makes me suspect that the unstated impetuous for the blow-out of a documentary may have been sparked by our ex-governor Mitt Romney's run for president.

I really want to see this, but I have to work and my VCR is dubious at best. I hope I can find it on-line. Have you read "Under the Banner of Heaven"? Mormonism is right up there with Scientology as religions that make me go "huh?".

My neighborhood is crawling with Mormon missionaries, and I'm not kidding. I see at least 4-8 a day. They must have a house around here somewhere. But, they're always bugging me on the bus. On the street they're nice...they just say hi. I pity the day they decide to ring my doorbell.

My first experience with the Mormons began when a class-mate tried to convert me in the 7th grade; classmates tried through college, when at least three of my girlfriends converted and then seemed to have instant marriages. I suppose I just have the face of a good candidate for conversion!

As for my boyfriend Jon Stewart, I taped it and watched him twice. :swoons:
