Now this is what I call a flame...

I had to share this one because it made me laugh out loud.

Mark Twain tells Fenimore Cooper: LOL!1!!!1!! U sux0rz.

Awesome! They don't make flames like this any more.

Oh, I love that essay! Because he's so not wrong.

This is why we love Mark Twain, and why Literary Snark's title is: "Mark Twain is My Hero."

Deerslayer sounds like a Mary Sue. If he was female and written a hundred years later, that is. I mean, he's got luck with the ladies, has at least five names, does six improbable things before breakfast, makes his enemies look like bafoons...

Hee hee. I remember reading this back in high school, junior year English I think it was. Still cracks me up.

Twain was king of snark, even before the word was invented.

That was brilliant. And henceforth all of my feedback will point out whether or not the writer "eschewed surplusage."

Very amusing, ta for the link. Know what a busy flist you've got, and want to make sure you don't miss my most recent entry: http://hilleviw.livejournal.com/64973.html . You'll like it, promise.

Thank you for that. I don't get nearly enough Twain in my diet as I should.

I almost wish I were back in high school, just so I could read Cooper and then plagarize Twain in response. ;-)

Brilliant! I've been wrestling with my still uncompleted Nano novel all evening (yeah, I'm going to finish it) and it's heartening to see that at least I'm not this bad off. But some cautionary material there, for the observant. Which I hope would include me....

So, you think Mark Twain didn't like THE DEERSLAYER?

[identity profile] jakeexperience.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 04:24 am (UTC)(link)

In every generation there is a Chosen One. She alone will fight the bucks, the does, and the fawns of darkness. She is the DEERSLAYER."

[identity profile] jakeexperience.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I re-read the review again. It's pure pwnage.

[identity profile] annearchy.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Sounds like a Mary Sue to me ;)

[identity profile] anelith.livejournal.com 2006-12-04 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
This made me laugh *hard* in several places. I had to read out choice bits to Ron. Thanks!

I love how he flamed the German language too.
