Just back from the
Nashoba Valley Food and Wine Festival in Bolton.
Yum.

Nashboa Valley Winery has this festival once a year (usually in mid-August) that involves samples from its gourmet restaurant (and a few others brave enough to deal with the summer heat in an apple orchard) and its selection of fruit wines and beers. There are also cooking demonstrations and Dixieland Jazz.
The whole thing is held outdoors at the edge of the apple orchard on the property.
The deal is this: you buy tickets for $2 a piece and plunk 'em down (1 to 2 tickets a pop) for food or wine.
So, I ate myself silly over a three-hour period.
Lemmie see:
Orchard Dutch apple bisque with currants and sour cream (cold soup). I havent' had this since I was in Quebec a million years ago, so I was all over this puppy.
Smoked duck with orchard greens and Ponzu vinaigrette
Summer Stout braised buffalo and smoked sausage (stew)
Peach cobbler
Murray's Grilled Chicken Breast marinated in Hot Murray Jerk Sauce.
I even bought a bottle of the hot Murray Jerk Sauce (first ingredient: Scotch bonnet peppers). Why? Bcause Murray is too fucking cool for words. He's got the sunglasses and wide-brimmed hat look
down to cool cat-dom. And his daughters are awesome. They took the time out to answer my questions on why a New York City restaurant was hangin' in Bolton. The plan is to conquer the world using the jerk sauce.
Plus, I had one glass of Vignoles (a dry apple wine) and a glass of Blueberry Merlot (a dry blueberry-merlot wine mix) to top it off.

Today is a sales tax holiday in Massachusetts, but I'm so stuffed/tired/fresh-aired out that I can't decide whether I want to get off my ass and check out Best Buy or Target for a
Rio Cali Sport MP3 Player.
Maybe after a nap...
