OK music mavens on my FList...why have you failed me?

*taps foot*

True, I have heard of Ok Go. I have a single track by them on my Future Soundtrack for America CD...some kind of cover song. They didn't stick out in my mind.

So explain to me why I had to discover the awesomeness on a liberal blog this a.m. while taking a brain-break from work?

I may be in music geek love.

*glares*

I'll let it slide this time.

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] stoney321 has righteously flogged me. She posted this beauty first a few weeks ago. I pay homage to [livejournal.com profile] stoney321 for being on the cutting edge of geeky music love.

*gasp!*
*clutches pearls!*

Dude, I posted and linked to THAT VERY VIDEO weeks ago! Harrumph. ;)

Eeeeep. I so sorry. *hangs head in shame*

If this was before [livejournal.com profile] writercon, I don't think you were on my regular FList at the time. I usually linked to you through our mutual friends lists, so I could have missed it.

I pay homage to you for spotting this geeky loveliness first.

[identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahahaha! I think it was just after, but I FORGIVE YOU. (You mean people don't MEMORIZE my posts?? *cutz*)

I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for good music. Currently, I'm bopping to the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack which is peppered with Sufjan Stevens, but nothing new. The original music for the album is pleasant, though. :)

[identity profile] sneaker328.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! That's fabulous. I love those guys.

By the way, I just realized that I never thanked you for the Multi-Fandom Soundtrack, and for doing my Ron Weasley request, so- thanks so much! That was really awesome of you to do.

[identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
BWAH! As it so happens, my next music review post (likely tomorrow) is going to feature them. They are a complete throw back to the sixties and I totally love them.

Have you seen this video?

Because as hard as it is to believe, it's even better than "Million Ways". They have taken over my brain, I hum their stuff all the time.

[identity profile] invisionary.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm impressed they did both those videos without any cuts - just one long shot for the whole thing. They must have rehearsed them for quite a while....

[identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. It's so rare nowadays that anybody does actual dancing (or anything else). One of my big complaints with PotC is that nobody does their own sword work. Errol Flynn come back, you're needed!

The Million Ways dance is a geeky mash-up of every horrible dance move we used to do in the sixties. How embarrassing.

[identity profile] hilleviw.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, not just the sixties...didn't you catch the SNF-Travolta moves? And the nineties boybands? I howled.

[identity profile] stoney321.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"No one does their own sword work"

*cough* If you can stomach hearing Keira Knightley rambling on in the background, you'll hear the lovely JackDav discuss how it took him weeks to learn how to use a sword.

...and how they cut out a lot of it. *waves Norrington flag*

[identity profile] a2zmom.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah then to JackDav. Yet another reason to be impressed by him.

[identity profile] dlgood.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
They don't just rehearse them. "A Million Ways" is part of their stage act -- I saw them in May 05 -- and they did that whole routine.

[identity profile] invisionary.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
So did they hand their instruments off to other people? Or was the whole act them dancing, rather than playing?

[identity profile] dlgood.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Most of the act is them playing like any other band.

'Millon Ways' was actually the closing act of the show. They broke down their equipment and roadies took stuff away, so we thought they were done. But then they put on a CD and just did the routine.

It was kind of weird.

[identity profile] invisionary.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. Well, bonus points for originality, I guess....

[identity profile] jgracio.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude!

[identity profile] mochi-tsuki.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! I was just about to rec that one but you beat me to it.

[identity profile] booster17.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, so was I. *grin*

[identity profile] fufumira.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I had thought they were just some really awesome geeks that did something I've always wanted to try... now I know they are really awesome geeks that did something I've always wanted to try with a band and their own songs!

[identity profile] moire2.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
If you like them there, try Ok Go on treadmills.

Lipstick and callus, fishnets and malice I ADORE them for this line alone!!! So very vampireish (okay, I've just got Buffy brain where everything relates to Buffy and Buffy relates to everything)

Thanks for sharing, plus those dance moves cheered up my evening!

[identity profile] midnightfae.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
There's one of them dancing on treadmills too.. I love them.
