To give you an idea just how much I've not even been near a computer in a non-work related way, I only just found out that the White Knight Awards have been awarded.

[Pssssst, if anyone is interested, links to this year's nominees are still active. There are plenty of good stories in this pack that didn't get a nifty plaque.]

First, big love to mara_sho for taking on the weight-bearing task of running the awards, and for making the nifty plaques.

However, due to computer problems at mara_sho's end, she's asking everyone to please vote on the Mbuna Fish Award for Xander-in-Africa stories. There are some excellent nominees in the group, so go give some love.

Also, congrats to everyone on my FList who won something good: annakovsky, bastardsnow, bellatemple, crazydiamondsue, entrenous88, gumboy, janedavitt, jgracio, ludditerobot, lwbush, m_mcgregor, manylancast, mara_sho (for the I Need A Parrot site), nemo_gravis, nwhepcat, r_becca, speakr2customrs, wesleysgirl, and xxmagex.

Cool, I recognize six of the winners as favorite authors of mine. Which means that the ones I *don't* recognize must be good stuff I haven't actually found yet, since the voters obviously had great taste... :)

I know in my category there was some stiff competition, anyway. And there were some stories that I thought got overlooked. I did nominate two myself (both in the Mbuna Fish awards), but there were a couple of other stories I desperately tried to find to nominate but couldn't remember where they were or who originally recc'd them.

If I come across them, I'll have to bookmark them for next year.

I refrained from voting in any categories where I was in competition (yeah, yeah...I know...I'm such a wimp).

Overall author was a real shocker for me because there was some pretty stiff competition in the category. I suspect the votes were very, very close on that one. Like, 1-to-2 votes apart close.

I'm also still surprised that Contrite Spirits got nominated since it's 2 years old.

Not that I'm complaining, mind. :-)
