Not exactly shocked here...

You know it's that kind of day when the only music that's doing it for you is The Pixies.

I can't seem to concentrate at all on my work today. I've made only miniscule amounts of progress on my project because the littlest thing has me wandering around like a clueless, rabid bat.

And, ooo, Political Philosophy Meme gaaked from [livejournal.com profile] hilleviw.

Just for the record, I am almost 100% certain that no one is shocked by the results of this:

You scored as Old School Democrat. Old school Democrats emphasize economic justice and opportunity. The Democratic ideal is best summarized by the Four Freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.

Pixies!!!

This from "This Monkey's Gone to Heaven":

now there's a hole in the sky
and the ground's not cold
and if the ground's not cold
everything is gonna burn
we'll all take turns
i'll get mine, too
this monkey's gone to heaven
- always reminded me of "Chosen"

freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear - I can't think of better world than that, myself.

What's truly funny is I do, indeed, have the song on my CD (I'm blasting Wave of Mutilation: The Best of in my ears now...)

Sooooooo...I guess I'll be a-seen' ya at Writer Con. Eeeeegggzelllent.

Nope, not surprised at all!

I'm actually more shocked that "foreign policy hawk" is as high as it is (then again, I'm a big believer in RealPolitik when it comes to foreign policy).

And given my thoughts on the recent kerfluffle on LJ adds, I suppose that I shouldn't be so shocked by that pro-business is as high as it is (although I do not believe that "what's best for General Motors is what's best for American."

I don't know - Progressive, while reforms where made, justs sounds now. Religous rivial, people corrupting language to go for political ends, imperalisim, reforms made to "benifit the working class" but only really benfiting the top, disenfranchisment of minorites, parental goverment, ect.

Oh god, I TOTALLY agree with you on that Pixies comment. I've got every album of theirs handy on my ipod for those emotional emergencies.

Wow, could I be any more set in my ways? *Zero percent* Socially Conservative Republican... Yikes! I don't think of myself as a knee-jerk liberal!

I know the privacy and right to property questions axed my chance with the Libertarians, since I tend to think that if what you do in the privacy of your own home is *illegal,* you shouldn't feel all justified to continue doing it. Right to privacy seems to be too commonly used to get away with stuff, and I'm forever aghast at what can't be used as evidence at trials. "Oh, we've got years of evidence that he beat the crap out of his wife and kids, but we aren't allowed to use their medical records or his conversations with his therapist or his confessions to his priest, or the recording he left on the answering machien that he was coming home to kill them in his murder indictment for killing them..."

I'm a little Greener than I would have expected, given that my opinion of the mass die-offs of frogs is, 'Eh, something will replace them. If they can't successfully adapt to live in the world we're making, that's their tough luck. If it turns out that *we* can't live in the world that we're making, well, that's just karma doing as karma does...'

It's a good thing I don't run this planet. There just isn't enough wall to line people up against, is all I'm sayin'... :)
