Filthy Lucre Post

I'm trying out the Amazon Marketplace because...dude...I feel broke after sending in my check to pay taxes (at the last minute...as always).

I can't believe how fast my Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season One DVD sold (within hours of posting), so that has to get shipped today.

However, I still have 9 books listed for sale and they're all dirt cheap. One of them is a first edition Tales of Earthsea hardcover.

The way I figure it: I get pocket change and clean out my shelves a little while I'm at it. I'm going to see how selling these books go and I'll probably list a boatload more at a later date.

So, check out my Amazon listings. :-)

ETA: And please, for heaven's sake, don't feel obligated to buy anything. I've just noticed that sometimes people on my Flist will mention when they've got an eBay sale going on and thought I'd mention it. You never know when you've got the thing people want at a price they're willing to pay.

If I weren't also broke, I'd totally buy some stuff. Perhaps next paycheck.

Ahhh, dude. Don't feel obliged to buy at all. I just noticed that some people on my FList sometimes post when they have eBay auctions, so I thought I'd just point to my Amazon space.

(Side note: Why Amazon over eBay? Because I know too many people who've been ripped off as buyers and as sellers. Plus, PayPal is the shit when it comes to eBay. Getting the money out of them sucks. At least Amazon has this vague idea that the money's mine.)

Besides, stupid me. I just turned around and decided to donate half my potential sales to Juan Cole's Library of Americanna Institute, which is translating important American documents (i.e., the writings of stinkin' liberals like Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, Ben Franklin, George Washington, James Madison...etc.) into Arabic for distribution to the Arabic-speaking and -reading world.

I figure since the U.S. ain't using them, might as well ship the ideas to countries that might find them useful.

I do this beacuse I, clearly, I am a liberal sucker who feels guilty selling used books online.

Meh. Think of it as recycling.

And no, I feel no obligation. I just like buying books.

This, sadly, is my predicament, hence the piles of books I've got all over my house.

Recycling! Yay! My liberal goober alarm likes this thought. Not capitalist peeeg doooog. Recycler!

Yay!

*hugs*

Sadly, I cannot buy new books (even used) until I read all the ones I own that I haven't read yet...or until it's 2007 (guess which one I"m betting on happening first?)

Ooh, I'm taking that Antonia Fraser book.

Hey Ya Sneak!

I just mailed your book to you a half-hour ago. *wheeee!*

It's an awesome books and I loved it when I read it. However, I haven't cracked it open in a couple of years, so it was just taking up space.

Enjoy!
