Working late night...

Do you know what time it is?
Yup. 7:30 p.m.

Do you know where I am?
Yup. Still at work.

Why?
Long story. It involves a very long meeting and a deadline.

Result?
Can't post the new part tonight, especially since it looks like I'm not even leaving for another hour or two.

Why am I not annoyed?
Disbursement of profit sharing today. My company rocks.

I promise to post an update by Wednesday the latest, depending on what my deadline-vs-what's needed to finish the project ratio looks like tomorrow.

The people who pay me have to come first. Apologies in advance.

As someone who just took her husband dinner so he could keep testing software and, hopefully, come home in time to go to bed, I fully understand.

I feel for your husband. I hate it when something comes up and you can't actually leave work at a reasonable hour.

In my case, it doesn't happen often, so I don't mind it so much when it comes up.

Personaly, I'm all "Yay! Profit sharing" and hoping the exeutives didn't give themselves a huge raise before the profit sharing fo you.

Nah, the big cheese is one of those rare creatures: a social liberal and small business owner. I've never worked in place that considered flex time a core employment value and believes the workers should profit as much as owners, so duuuude, I lucked into the good time.

There's a reason why people don't quit this company.

Lucky minx. Profit sharing is a long distant memory in my little world. Post when you can. It's a tragic fact of life: job first, then everything else.

Yet, oddly enough, this is the first time I've worked for a company that actually has profit sharing.

I don't mind working the odd late night or two, because it actually is a rare occurance, but hey, I'm willing to work extra for the cash.

Come to the public sector - where "work" is a four-letter word.

Profit sharing. Tis a wonderful thing. I work for a brokerage services firm and the Wall Street mind set means bonuses, which is nice. However, we were bought by a bank a couple of years ago (cheap, cheap, cheap) and it looks likely this will be it. Which is bad news because everybody counts on it.

Profit sharing..a lovely concept. Unfortunatly for me, I work in Health Care, which, in Canada is by definition non-profit. I do get the odd chocolate from grateful families..I guess that would count.

No worries - you spoil us anyway!

You mean they pay you more if your efforts pay off?

The private sector is so wierd.
