gSpace is awesome

I've just upgraded to the latest version of Firefox which...sheesh, I feel like I'm surfing while surrounded by a fortress. The interface and protections are slightly different, so it takes a little getting used to.

I do love that JavaScript and Flash killer thing-ies they've got, but I have to "teach" it which sites are okay and which aren't. Plus the Adblocker is very much improved over its older incarnation and now comes paired with a nifty list of ads to block (download separately) that gets continuously updated. I'm shockingly add-free at the moment. Hell, I don't even get ads or drop-down boxes on Megaupload or YouSendIt any more. *floves*

Also, vast improvements in DL ability. Firefox always used to crash on me if I tried to DL too much or too fast. I'd say the 1.5 build is massively, massively more stable than the 1.1 I had.

But best. tool. evah?

gSpace. No kidding. It's an upload interface that literally turns your Gmail account into file storage. I've been playing with it all morning sending MP3 files through it and...let's just say it's a hell of a lot faster and smoother than just emailing the damn file. Plus, it gets around that pesky 10 MB limit that GMail has on attachments.

Damn, I am impressed with this thing.

Another good addition, it's now a hell of a lot easier to remove extensions. Now you can do it with a click of the button, so, thank heavens for that.

Overall, now that I'm used to the new Firefox and extensions, I'm duly impressed.

gSpace, ooh!

For some reason, my reply to you wound up as separate post.

Here's the link to my reply because I didn't feel like digging up all the links to the five extensions again: http://www.livejournal.com/users/liz_marcs/147733.html?thread=2140693#t2140693

That's been happening to me a lot this week. Glad to "hear" it's not just me.

Upgrade to the latest version of Firefox.

Download:

Adblock

Adblock Filterset.G Updater

Fasterfox

Flashblock

NoScript

Between these extensions, it's like nothing gets through. The first few times you fire up the browser, though, you're going to have to massage it. You'll have to tell NoScript to allow certain sites, like GMail or LJ or MegaUpload.

However, even once you allow MegaUpload, it'll block everything else on the site. If you want to allow any of those elements, you have to approve them separately.

You can also give sites a 'temporary pass' versus a 'permanent pass.' Whenever JavaScript is blocked, a yellow bar pops up across the bottom of your browser. Click on the options button to allow or block scripts.

Thank you SO MUCH! Those freaking MU and YSI ads drive me freaking nuts.
