EEEEeeeeeeee! Great Big Sea!

FYI: If you haven't downloaded it yet and still want to, the Africander Soundtrack is still active. Please note that I won't be uploading this one again any time soon, so this is definitely your last chance to snag it. Once the links die, they're staying dead.

I just found out that Great Big Sea is going to be playing in Cambridge, MA, on April 29 and April 30.

Okay, okay! I know that's something like four months away, but...but...I've been trying to see these dudes for like 4 years. Usually I hear they're playing in my area something like two weeks after they do it, so, MUST SEE!

*ahem*

Anyone in the area interested in coming with? You know I'll be asking again as it gets closer to THE DATE so no rush.

Aaaaaand I just found out that both Cambridge shows are sold out. Damn, damn, damn.

Here's an MP3 for anyone wondering what they sound like:

That sucks that they sold out! Maybe they'll add another date if they see there's demand?

Good luck with the scalpers!

Duuuude!

I meant to ask you...you must be pretty proud of yourself. Seems like yesterday a ton of us were researching our Africander Stories.

It's like you're promoting learning or somethin'.

Seriously. Just thought I'd mention it because it's kind of cool that you got a bunch of adults to break out of our normal routines and do something different.

So, totally a standing "O" for you.

BtW, have you managed to give out all the African countries yet? (No, not volunteering for a third....)

Nope. We're still about 10 away from the whole set. Still, if even half of what's been set up gets written, I'll be happy.

Good luck on getting to see GBS... I caught them as the opening act to Sarah MacLachlan and the Chieftans about 10 years ago, and saw them whenever they were in Philly from then on. They're much better live than recorded... ::crosses fingers for you::

If you go to their Web site, you can get on their mailing list, get advance warning about upcoming concerts...

And um, yeah. That anonymous comment was me. ::remembers to log in::

Do you think the tickets might turn up at a ticket brokers?

Is there a wait list? Might they open limited view seats?

They sound very cool. It's a bummer that they're sold out. If they come around again or add another show, I'd be interested in checking them out.

Because I have you as an influencer or whatever on my LAUNCHcast station, I got a pretty good dose of their Sea of No Cares album. I liked it enough to go looking for it, and when I didn't find it, I liked the band enough to take a chance on picking up their Something Beautiful album even though I'd never heard a thing from it (which I almost never do). After that, I was pretty much lost. I did find the Sea of No Cares album finally, and just picked up their latest one, The Hard and The Easy. If I had any extra money, I'd even be tempted to go down to Beantown to see them, and I just about never go to live shows anymore (I have a middle ear problem that means I need to wear earplugs at just about any live show).

That was just my long-winded way of saying: I feel your pain. Good luck tracking them down.
