Quick note...computer issues

For some bizarre reason, my home DSL has decided to go all pissy on me this weekend. I can't seem to get on the Net.

Hopefully, the nice folks at Verizon will help me settle it tonight. I suspect I may just have to reset my DSL, but for some bizarre reason, the Verizon software hates my computer. Or hates me. Not sure.

Either way, apologies for taking a powder, but it can't be helped. If it turns out that that I need something replaced(*shudder*), I'll try to sneak new parts up from work.

Hopefully my limited access won't be as limited in a few days.

On a good note: Lack of Internet access forced me to relook at a not-yet-published-part-no-not-even-on-the-test-list "Living History" part and rewrite it. Also, it forced me to sit down and do more tweaking with the idea of "time drift" for Living History. I had been playing around the edges with it, I have the theory sketched out, but it requires some tweaking and I had a eureka! moment.

On a bad note: I managed to lock myself out of my car this morning. An HOUR for AAA. Needless to say, I'll be at work hella late tonight.

Nyetworking: I did Verizon. There software does diddley, which is not to say there's an unsavory relationship with Bo. Once the line is registered (or the MAC address of your machine), it's just TCP/IP, and your address is probably DHCP.

Keys: Did I ever tell you my story of cascade key-losing? I'm awake and freshly showered, dressed and ready for work, but I can't find my keys. I beg for my wife's keys to my car and go to work. She goes shopping at the grocery store next to the high school, remembers it's open lunch and that she should be paranoid about marauding students, and locks the car, noticing through the window that she left the keys in the ignition. She has her cell, she calls me. Because I don't have my keys, I can't help. I go home and search some more, then go back, having found nothing. Eventually, it hits me. Medium borrowed my keys so he could get his backpack, but this occurred when I was ambulatory but not yet awake, so I forgot this. (Why they still leave their backpacks in the van when they know I drop 'em off and Mom picks 'em up is beyond me.) So, both sets of keys are locked in the van. Wonderful. Anyway, we have USAA, which has great roadside assistance, so she got back in and I got my keys back.

Test List: How do I get on the test list?

The "test list" is actually the XanderZone Yahoo Group. I'll email particulars.

And yeah, Verizon's software sucks the big one for DSL.

My point is more that it's unnecessary and you'd probably be far better without it. By timing, I'm guessing it works again, though.
