liz_marcs: Jeff and Annie in Trobed's bathroom during Remedial Chaos Theory (Xander)

*slightly hysterical scream*

Xander?

Dude?

Why are you doing this to me? Seriously.

I've got crap to do. I bills to pay. A budget to balance. A few quick looks around LJ (which turned out not to be so quick...man it's tough catching up...)

I managed to get it done, despite your whining.

I want to get up early tomorrow and pretend to go to the gym.

But you have dragged me back to the computer at 11:19 p.m. insisting that I keep writing.

Because "you want to get it over with."

Thanks a lot.

Hate you, too.

And thus, I prove that I have officially gone off the deep end. I'm not only arguing with imaginary people, I'm arguing with imaginary people that I don't even own.

My life isn't bizarre. Not. At. All.

not only are you arguing with imaginary people who you don't own, you're doing it in a fairly public forum. So yay for you!

=)

*headdesk*

yay.

[identity profile] invisionary.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, so that's where he went. He hasn't said anything to me for almost a week now. It's starting to get a little annoying!

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
*shoves Xander in the direction of you*

YOUR TURN!

[identity profile] butterflykiki.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
*waves to Xander* dude. Demanding much?

Heh. Celli regularly has conversations with Lex Luthor and Eric Weiss and others, but usually, they result in her hiding under her desk.

Me, I just feed the imaginary wolf more taco chips.

Hmmm... there's an idea.

Xander? Cheezy chip?

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I've offered all kinds of snacks, but no go.

Bastard through the Twinkies back at me. He's got quite the pitcher's arm for a one-eyed guy.

[identity profile] midnightsjane.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. You know that we, your faithful (no pun intended, ;p ) readers, are totally enabling the Xander pushiness don't you? Argue all you like, as long as we get more story..
What? The Scoobies aren't real? Nooooo!

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's a case of getting through this next part because it is hard (emotionally, not technically) for me write. It's something of a deliberate ape of some of the hard decisions Giles has had to make.

It's one of those things: Xander agreed to be a Watcher, but he hasn't had to make any really hard decisions that go against his instincts for the greater good.

All through the canon, sure, he's had to make compromises by working with people he didn't like, but he's never been the one to make the decision nor did he ever have to do anything that he knew would keep him up nights. He's always been able to rationalize his decisions as "being for the best" in one form or another. This particular situation he won't be able to rationalize it beacuse it's a spur of the moment judgement call where he'll never be 100% sure he did the right thing.

It doesn't help that I've been heading for this situation for awhile, so I can't really back out of it now, even though I suspect I'm about to really piss some people off.

So, yeah, that's the source of the Xander-pokage. I'm not getting the usual fight with the character (or what I deem to be in-character in canon) that I'd usually get with something I know is going to have some people screaming bloody murder (like the case of Xander and Anya getting it on). It's sort of the whole "rip the bandaid off and get it over with" writing.

WWHD?

Heh. For some reason, I'm reminded of the wisdom of one Homer J. Simpson, who said, "Ah, beer. The answer to, and cause of, most of life's problems."

Beer not helping!

Wine much better!

Threaten him with Xander/The Master/Mayor/Adam PWP.
That should shut him up. :)

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly, I did threaten.

He pelted me with twinkies.

Ungrateful bastard.

And thus, I prove that I have officially gone off the deep end. I'm not only arguing with imaginary people, I'm arguing with imaginary people that I don't even own.

You say this like arguing with imaginary people you do own would be somehow more sane.

Plus, how can someone "own" an imaginary person? The legal right to put out stories about that imaginary person? Sure, someone can own that. But there's no way that I'm going to let anyone tell me that they own my imaginary Buffy and that I can't have her do what I want.

Man, that sounded wrong, and a bit perverted, too. Totally not what I meant. Really. Shut up.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
See, it owned (in the copyright sense) the imaginary people, in theory, I could make money off them at least. Can't make money off Xander, hence, a step further into insan-o territory.

And Heee! Imaginary Buffy puppeteering!

"And thus, I prove that I have officially gone off the deep end. I'm not only arguing with imaginary people, I'm arguing with imaginary people that I don't even own."

I think my concern would be that you seem to be "loosing" the argument with imaginary people you don't own.

Except, of course, in this case that is good because we get neat stuff to read.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a fairly big compulsion to sit down at the keyboard and write it out.

The big thing I'm concerned about is that all of Xander's motivations are clear because, and I think this just might be the case, some people are going to be pissed when they read it.

[identity profile] mpoetess.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as he's safely in your head and not splooging all over fanficrants, I'd say your Xander is pretty well-behaved, relatively speaking. ;-)

*dies*

In all seriousness, I did have an off-line email with the individual involved in that and she did apologize.

She realized that she may have been overstepping the bounds when she confused me with someone else, namely, someone else she'd been having problems with. When I pointed out that I didn't even know who she was, so I couldn't exactly be one of the people she was having problems with, she was pretty horrified.

Those rants were taken down.

So I give her a ton of credit for back off and walking way instead of digging herself in deeper.

On the other hand, I do feel kind of bad. She was completely reasonable about backing off, so maybe she really did feel like she was being picked on the case she was ranting about. Since I wasn't even involved, I can't say one way or the other.

[identity profile] mpoetess.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, props to her for knowing when to quit. I'd say the sploogey part was just taking what was basically a personal issue with another fan, not diectly related to fanfic, to that particular comm.

[identity profile] othercat.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
At least it's Xander, and not Lindsey, for instance...:>

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. But Xander is probably a lot more of a pest than Linds. Linds is definitely the more adult of the two of them. Linds would just guilt me into it. Xander pokes you with his finger.

[identity profile] othercat.livejournal.com 2005-08-19 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Lindsey: Well, actually, I get a minion to do the poking. *hooks a thumb in the direction of a very bouncy Hyena.*
