Gmail question

This is directed to the experts on my list:

For some reason, I can't seem to get into one of my Gmail accounts.

My liz DOT marcs AT gmail DOT com account accepts my user name and password, but then it just hangs on a blank screen with the wording "loading" in the left corner (this is the big black letters). It never even gets to the little red box that says "loading" in the right hand corner.

However, my LJ Gmail account is just fine, as is my my Gmail account for swapping MP3 files.

By the way, this one account will not work in either my Firefox or IE browsers. I've dumped history for both browsers. I cleaned the cache for IE, but I can't figure out how to dump cache in Firefox. Either way, dumping both history and cashe doesn't seem to have fixed the problem.

I've been unable to get into my liz DOT marcs AT gmail DOT com account since yesterday afternoon. And there doesn't seem to be a way to contact the Gmail team.

HELP!

ETA: Don't forget the free tunes I posted for download yesterday.

You can contact the Gmail help team using this form (https://services.google.com/inquiry/gmail_bugs?referrer=12359). And you can also try posting your problem or see if anyone else had the same problem here (http://groups-beta.google.com/group/Gmail-Help-Discussion). I was able fix a problem w/ my account using a fix listed on the group.

If you do send an email to Gmail help, read through the troubleshooting section (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/request.py?troubleshoot=1&ctx=troubleshoot) first and make sure your email to Gmail help doesn't match or seem to match w/ keywords any of the problems already explained in the troubleshooting (if it does match you won't get a response).

Damn, Google won't let me link driectly to the help form. You can access it by going to the troubleshooting link then Loading Errors --> My issue is not listed here.

Also, you can clear your Firefox cache by going Tools --> Options --> Privacy --> Cache --> Clear.

Another thing to check: have you tried opening your box on another computer?

Yup. I have the same issue at home and at work.

I'll try the cache thing first.

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2005-08-09 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. Cache thing didn't work.

What I can't get over is that I can get into my OTHER TWO Gmail accounts with zero problem, but this one account seems to be toasted.

I'll check the troubleshooting section a little more thoroughly at lunch, but I suspect that I'll have to check the forums or email the help team. Thanks for the links. :-)

Sometimes when mine does that, I hit stop on the browser and then hit reload. That usually fixes the problem.

That hasn't worked at all. First thing I tried.

I just out of interest checked mine and just as I thought it was going to stick in the same place as you reported, it changed to the red 'loading' box on the right hand side and then loaded properly. Might be a glitch in their system - it's worth reporting it to them.

Could be affecting a sever cluster or something, because, like I said, my other two accounts are fine and load with no problem.

Have you tried Ctrl-Reload? Sometimes that works if you're pulling something from a cache somewhere between your machine and ths server, such as a cacheing proxy server.

I left my gmail account open on the desktop and couldn't get the account to open on the laptop until I went back to the desktop and logged out.
