Guys, Guys!

You have to read this story over on ONTD_POLITICAL, which is easily the BEST! STORY! EVER!

The nuts and bolts of this story?
  • Canada has a strategic maple syrup reserve. I repeat: Canada. Has. A. Strategic. Maple. Syrup. Reserve.
  • The strategic maple syrup reserve was robbed.
  • The maple syrup was smuggled out of the strategic reserve by hiding it in hallowed-out blocks of cocaine.
  • The police have managed to recover some of the stolen maple syrup
  • The recovered maple syrup is being returned to the strategic reserve under police escort.

Just for the record? I WANT A MOVIE OF THIS!

*Takes a step back. Takes another step back. And another*

Someone has to have dipped a bit too much in that combo of maple syrup and cocaine, me thinks. Otherwise, Canada really IS off their rocker.

Strategic Maple Syrup Reserve.

It really should have Bruce Willis as the cop going after the 'bad guys' *sniggering helplessly*

Bruce Willis - please! This is a job for Constable Benton Fraser and possibly *BOTH* of the Rays. I say both because it is the Strategic Maple Syrup Reserve!

And where is Diefenbaker in all of this?

And the Captain?

And the other detectives?

No, this has BLOCKBUSTER written all over it! Sadly, Fraser and friends is relegated to TV.

The DARING heist by a team of former Special Forces soldiers. The Gendarme ineffectively trying to stop them. What they need is a former spy, who tried to sabotage the SMSR a decade or three ago and has been locked in the deepest, darkest hole they can find. They promise him a pardon if he helps them catch the guys and stick him with a green officer to ride herd on him.

Of course, now I have the idea of an solicitous Mountie doing that job, the way Benton Fraser did it when he arrived in Chicago for the first time, sending Ray into a tizzy each time. Seriously, opening the building doors for everyone instead of going in yourself?

How about a compromise? A Bruce Willis character, who is being 'helped' by Fraser and the original Ray, who is all the while complaining about the very idea of a SMSR. He's Chicago. He's Italian.

This needs to be a feature blockbuster movie and hanging 'The Boys' onto it this way, will bring that to a much wider audience.

I'm thinking wayyyyyy tooooo muchhhhh about this....

Well, Dief is running things, as always.

With rare exception, movie fandoms don't generate nearly the quantity fannish works and conversation that TV fandoms do. Besides, this *screams* season long arc, with recurring appearances from the Six Degrees of Canadian Actors fandom.

If it needs to have a bigger action hero/spy background than we can put Due South in as loving older generation overseeing the works back at HQ, but we certainly can't cast a American action hero in the lead role. Bruce Willis grew up in NJ and it doesn't get more US than that.

Michael Shanks, Lexa Doig, Erica Durance, Trisha Helfer, Chris Judge, Amanda Tapping, Kavin Smith and some Nathan Fillion to bring the crazy to the team. David Hewlett pairing up with Dan Aykroyd for tech. All managed by Paul Gross and Graham Greene.

rebcake: River Song and Amy Pond look happy. (dw river_amy)

I can't find the mention of cocaine in the article. Was it edited out after you read it, perhaps?

But yes, I know about the maple syrup reserve. It's real.
