Faith-Xander Shipper Manifesto Posted!

Hooray!

I can now come up for air and actually look at something other than a Word document! I can answer e-mail! I can work on Living History!

I've finally posted my Xander/Faith Shipper Manifesto over on [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto.

And check the icon! Isn't it puuuuuurdy? That would be thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ludditerobot giving me a mess of OTP Xander-Faith icons. If it says OTP and has Xander and Faith, all credit and praise to [livejournal.com profile] ludditerobot!

Go. Read. Then come back and scream at me.

A Lot Of Work

Kudos to you Liz, a lot of work went into that, I'd put the attraction of Xander and Faith's relationship down to this:-

1. Faith is a girl who needs someone to love her.

2. Xander is someone who needs someone to love.

3. Faith needs someone strong enough to stand up to her, but still gentle and kind, that's Xander.

4. Xander likes strong women (Cordelia, Anya), that's Faith.

Throw in their similar backgrounds, senses of humour, and fierce loyalty, you have two chars who would be good together.

A forgotten tidbit.

This Year's Girl

Cut to Xander and Giles in the streets looking for Faith.

Xander: The point being I could be the target here. Faith finds
Mr. Xander Harris still in town, she goes tighter than cat gut. Got a lotta pent up feelings there. I'm only saying.

Giles: (Wearily) Yes, I'm sure.

Xander: See, I can't be held responsible for the effect I have on
women.

Giles: No...

Xander: See, Faith and I have this little thing between us called
history...

Rattling. They look around. Xander charges the blaster. They go
towards the sound. Spike comes out of the darkness.

Xander: Spike?

Giles: What are you doing here?

Spike: Me? Hey, I'm not the one out of place here.

Xander: For your information, smarty, we've got a rogue Slayer on our hands. Real psycho-killer too.

Spike: Sounds serious.

Giles: It is. What do you know?

Spike: What do you need?

Xander: Her. Dark hair. Yay (Indicates) tall, name of Faith,
criminally insane.

I'm not sure we can ascribe Xander's attraction to Buffy and Faith to Slay-Dar, because he didn't really show attraction to Kendra. Plus you sorta goofed the link to my snippet.

Oh. Sorry. Fixed.

Oh, yeah. I saw The Zeppo last night, for the first time in what 4 years? It is funnier and better then I remembered :) Tops the number 1 position again. I really cracked when Xander walks into the middle Buffy/Angel's damn serious melodramatic scene.

(And Data plays a guest role in Enterprise. My day can not be better!)

Oops, not Data, but Brent Spiner.

Excellent read. I particularly liked the commentary about Xander and his strong woman fixation, as well as the point that he has never actually been with a women that he has initiated anything with, having always been the passive one that gets jumped.

His statement to Anya, "And I'm actually turning into a woman as I say this..." pretty much sums up his traditionally female role in his relationships.

And how weird is it that shy little Willow has had sex with more people than unapologetic hormone-bomb Xander? Yikes. Heck, even Giles ties that score and his love-life is a barren wasteland!

Isn't 'five by five' some sort of military jargon? It is conceivable that this is a hint as to the identity of Faith's absentee father. If he was in the army (or if she at least believed he was off in the army, since her mother might not wanted to have explained a less pleasant truth), a young Faith could have developed a habit of using army slang to be 'more like dad' and think of herself as an army brat, rather than admit to all and sundry that her father bailed before she was born. (Or perhaps learned it from one of her own boyfriends, or one of her mom's boyfriends, or whatever.)

The bit about the squiffiness of 'Boston' as a birthplace is so true. Despite living in New Hampshire, it seems impossible to describe where I live to someone from the midwest or west coast without the words, 'just north of Boston' coming into the conversation.

Liz, the whole thing is great. I love your breakdown of the interactions, and of each character's... uh... character. Yeah. Anyway, I am slowly (and unsurely) becoming an F/X guy... which is not to say I'm abandoning other ships, but this one is definitely appealing to me more and more (And your work definitely has a lot to do with that). Anyway. Great stuff, and hope to see more LH soon :-)
