I was planning on posting a comment asking about when you'd start with the last parts of your Africander story but then I saw this, this morning before I had to leave for work.
You made me late for work, Liz. *frowns*
I don't care about that because....
YAY!!!!!
NEW STORY!!!!!!
I love the beginning of this new tale of yours. Intriguing, scary, baffling.... it has it all.
I, like the others, are wondering why the Scoobies thought it necessary to do this to Xander. He must have seen something or been exposed to something that would make him extremely valuable to the other side, as referenced by the chapter. And knowing Xander, he's not one to sit on the sidelines, being protected, especially when his 'girls' are out there, fighting. So, I'm thinking, his "Forrest Gumping" was done without his permission, to keep him safe and out of the limelight from the demons. Even if the last few lines, with Xander's voice breaking through, sort of alludes to him being a willing participant.
Also, the whole driving across the States thing? Xan's right. They should have contingencies in place to get him out of there, FAST! Not to mention the absolutely idiotic idea of having him not in easy reach. I mean, if I'd set something like this up and knowing the fact that the enemy has eyes, ears and other things absolutely everywhere, I'd keep something or someone as the case may be, so valuable, in easy reach. Like say, the grounds of my command center?
Or at the very least, give him a makeover so he doesn't look like he does. After all, how many one-eyed men are there in the US? They really need to check on their security procedures. *shakes head*

Looking forward to more, Liz!
