The fact that Sisko and Dr. Bashir held out the longest of the humans before succumbing. Unfortunately, I can't tell you why that's interesting (spoilers!), except to say that future revelations about these two characters make for a kind of interesting reverse-retcon on why this is so.

It took me a second to figure out what you meant here, but you're absolutely right. That's an amusing after-the-fact explanation for something I sure they just did for storytelling reasons in that particular episode. It's nice when fan rationalizations actually fit nicely and neatly into the continuity after the fact.

Unlike, say, Rom being a complete mechanical idiot. While I think you can suggest that maybe Quark is just deluded about Rom, I don't think you can say the same for Odo. If anyone on the station would be aware that Rom actually has some hidden talent, I feel like it would be Odo, so it does kind of make Rom's eventual mechanical aptitude a bit of a retcon. That's a minor point though, and the character that Rom becomes is so much more interesting than the stereotypical dumb and greedy Ferengi that he is in the first season or so, so I can quite easily and quite happily ignore it.
