Here's where the stupid comes in:

....
posting the actual artwork in an unlocked community where there was even a question or doubt that could enter into the minds of Our Corporate Overlords at 6A/LJ was stupid.

I said much the same thing in a comment to one of [livejournal.com profile] winterlive's recent posts.

Frankly, if I was in the HP fandom and a member of [livejournal.com profile] pornish_pixies I, personally, would have refrained from posting anything remotely questionable and/or would have taken extra precautions until this matter cooled down. There's no shame in laying low for a mo'.

To post something questionable in a comm that is so very much under 6A's microscope is, as you said, stupid. And, imho, selfish. If I was a member of the comm I'd be so pissed off at someone putting my comm in direct jeopardy once again. When, in Ponderosa's case, a simple header stating Harry was of age would have sufficed. And if he is meant to be underage in that particular piece of artwork, then she should have waited. She has said that she is very accepting of 6A decision and that's great, but again, if I was a member of that comm I'd be fuming at both sides of this issue, not just at 6A.

As someone who worked in the customer service field (email-based CSR for McDonald's and phone/email-based for Jarden Consumer Solutions, two HUGE corporations) that customers will blow the smallest thing out of proportion, let alone something that's actually worthy of consumer wrath. And they're only digging the hole deeper.
