I think the letter is excellent. Well done. I don't like a lot of 'cest either in fandom - but, another piece these people are missing, is not only is fiction *not real* but it's often a way for the writer to write about issues that they can't write about normally. i.e. Straight women not particularly into gay rights writing slash fic because they can pair two men as *equals* and sexually adventurous, without the power dynamic and stereotypical expectations that a het pair would bring. In the case of Wincest, it squicks me because I *do* see the two actors as brothers, and ew. But Petrellicest on the other hand, I like, because the actors don't really seem like brothers on screen - just two really hot guys. So how much 'cest fic is just 'two hot guys making out'? All is not necessarily as it seems.
