If I'd checked my e-mail on a more regular basis I would've known this sooner.

This is either charming or annoying if you're running one of the awards. *grins*

Go and check out all the nominations because there's a lot of good competition and great authors in all categories. Really, I'm once again up against some of the best and I'm honored to be considered in the same company. It's worth reading all of them. Truly, it is.

Why You Should Vote: The organizers have done the amazing. They've created a contest that actually focuses on "the other" fanfiction: non-shippy stories that are more focused on plot and character. While I understand that the organizers are going to let it lie fallow a bit (personally, I was shocked there was a second round of awards so soon), I hope they'll to to a semi-annual or annual awards. A lot of these authors and stories are head-and-shoulders above what's out there and I'm grateful to the organizers for giving me authors and stories I would've never heard of otherwise.
I'm Nominated In:

Duos: Contrite Spirits
Team-Ups: Into The Desert

Why I'm Pleased: One, I love the Walk with Heroes Awards. Two, I love all the other authros there. Three, Contrite Spirits is my favorite short story right now. And Four, this is the first time I've ever been nominated without my name even coming up in the Xander category. I don't know why that pleases me. But it does.


Award: White Knight Awards
Voting Until: October 11
Why You Should Vote: The White Knight Awards are tied to the new and revitalized I Need A Parrot: The XanderZone for the BtVS Writers' Guild. They've worked damn hard to bring the site back to life and to encourage authors of all stripes to post their Xander-centric stories, from het to slash, from shipper to nonshipper, from heroic to darkfic. They really deserve the kudos for getting the site where it is in a relatively short amount of time. This is their first awards since the new site went up.

Why I'm Pleased: I'm just overwhelmed by the sheer number of nominations (and again, I'm up against some damn fine authors and stories). Of course, I'm in a weird situation where I'm running against myself in several categories, so I honestly don't know how I feel about that. But overall, I think the organizers did a great job. There was some (unfair, I might add) griping about last years' White Knight Awards and this year a lot of work went into the deal to prevent the same (odious) accusations that happened last year.

So, ummm, thanks to all who nominated me.

I think I'm going to have to go through all my email at some point over the next week or so. Truly, I do.
