YAY! New BSG! Old Brisco County Jr.

Damn, I miss this show.

If you haven't checked out the first Webisode of The Resistance, then why are you reading this?

Seriously, people. Go. Watch.

It's Cally, and Chief, and Tigh! YAY! And new characters! YAY!

I ruv Ron Moore. He's such a fanboi in his way.

Also, I have made up my mind about The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. even though I've only watched up to the second episode.

I love this show. I am in serious love with this show. I don't even like Westerns, but this show is really...it just hits me square perfect.

Bruce Campbell's acting is a 100% improvement over the pilot, too. He is so totally The Man.

My continuing and growing love for Bruce Campbell (and Brisco) may be due in part to rewatching the pilot with the commentary on. It was actually interesting commentary. And edumacational, especially when Campbell started dropping all these cool bits about the history of Hollywood, Warner Brothers, and westerns.

Not to mention the man has a brain like a rolodex. He was dropping the names of the behind-the-scenes people like crazy and how they did their jobs ranging from stunt work to wrangling the horses. He also kept pointing out all the character actors that were in the pilot and rattling off their résumés like a total fanboi.

Contrast to my reaction when seeing the pilot without commentary: "Hey! I think it's that guy! What's his name?"

Since I've read If Chins Could Kill, all of the awesome patter out of Campbell shouldn't have surprised me, yet somehow the sheer awesomeness of it blew me away anyway.

Okay...I have to toddle off to bed now.

I had to inflict share my BSG and TABCJr on y'all.

OMG, I want to watch the BSG thingy...but I can't, because I'm on my friend's computer, and her speakers don't seem to be working...

BCJ is love!

Seriously, I was totally into it when it aired (though had no clue about half the jokes and references), and then reencountered it a few years ago. Now have the DVDs. And am playing Pete Hutter at FH. . . .

So much of it is so frickin' clever and campy. Delightful. Enjoy, m'dear.

See, I have a gripe: 3.5 minutes? Are they kidding? And I'm supposed to wait two days for another 3 minutes? This doesn't whet my appetite, it just annoys me.

The treatment of BSG is, to me, the perfect exemplar of what's wrong with tv. They keep bemoaning losing audience, but when there's a bona fide hit - when they actually get a show people want to watch - what do they do? Start the season late, show a short season, change the broadcast time so no-one can find it, don't do reruns so latecomers can get caught up, and lose the most popular actors. They (the network execs) did it to West Wing, too. Me? If I'm in charge of programming? I've got a show people want to watch, and I want people to watch my station? I broadcast that show. Duh. Instead the attitude seems to be: Ooh, folks like it. Better take it away. Can't have people getting used to good television. Dumbasses.

I can't watch the Webisodes; I'm sitting over here in Europe, so I get the "Content not available."
Which sucks. Big time.
Besides, I'm probably the last Boomer/Tyrol-shipper on the planet, and I fear their going to destroy my comfortable illusion that Cally is not pregnant by the Chief, but some other guy.

I cannot wait for October. My BSG love knows no bounds.

These webisodes have really taken off, haven't they?

Campbell gives great audio commentary! He's also someone who continually recognizes and appreciates the efforts of those around him. He must be a joy to work with. The hubby read If Chins Could Kill and has been trying to get me to ever since. It's on my pile, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Bruce Campbell = love.

Thanks for the link to the Resistance. Ooooh new characters!

BGS!! I didn't know about the webisodes - thanks! Also, I totally saw you at Barnes and Noble this morning. Really. I was heading past New Releases to Sci-Fi Fantasy and there you were, standing in Cookbooks. I skidded to a stop, did a double-take and was certain it was you. I almost walked on, because I'm weird about things like that and then thought, "If Liz Marcus is in Oklahoma, I HAVE to say hi to her," so I clear my throat, think of something witty to say, big grin, and then gave a casual, "Hey, Liz." She turns around, and she's not you. Did you know? But you have a twin! Well, fraternal. Same hair, same build, same shorter than I am thing. It was weird. Oh, and I'm a dork, but she was very nice about not being Liz.

Pssssstttt! (look at this Friday)

[identity profile] willowgreen.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much for the link--I had no clue about the Webisodes. Wasn't that Jake Gyllenhall? A damn fine imitation, if not the real thing.

[identity profile] midnightsjane.livejournal.com 2006-09-07 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn, it doesn't seem to be loading...do you know if it's only showing in the USA?

[identity profile] liz-marcs.livejournal.com 2006-09-08 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
It shouldn't.

If you're using Firefox and you've got Flashblocker, you have to allow SciFi, otherwise the media file won't serve to you.

If you're using IE, you might have to clear your cookies.

And that wipes out my expertise.

Hi there. :) Wandered over here because somebody linked that post of yours (http://liz-marcs.livejournal.com/206303.html), but your writing is really enjoyable - and whoa, somebody else into Brisco County! - so hope you don't mind if I add you as a lj-friend!
