Wow, this is crazy. I was very young when the whole FF.net and FA thing went down, and I was just coming into the fandom. I remember being told that CC was the coolest thing since ice cream and I read her first two Draco stories, which were all that that posted at the time. I kind of wandered fandoms after that, because of the huge raging hate going on (because, hello, I was like 12/13, and I didn't want to hear it) but I always checked in with CC's stories because "she was the best". When you first posted about the mscribe thing, I checked out badpenny and realized that I remembered all of this stuff. And now, looking at CC's debate, I see that she did plagiarize. Even back then I caught a few quotes, but I thought nothing of them. Unlike what you said, in my high school plagiarism wasn't stressed as a big deal until senior year, and that's only because I was in AP. Looking back, I have an idea why she did it. It was for the fame. Everyone loved CC, everyone wanted to be her friend. I remember wanting to write just like her when I grew up, that is until I grew up. She was worshiped by her fans, and I don't think you realize just how many were 10/11/12 year olds who just wanted to be cool like her.
