I finally had a chance to sit down and read this chapter and all I can say, Liz, is that it chilled me to the core. Your FE is really the bastard that his name suggests. The problem is, you cannot hope to defeat him, for he is US.
This reminds me of the episode of Angel where he manages to steal a ring from one of the Senior Partners' minions that will lead him to the SP themselves, so he can kill them. What happens is that the ghost of Lee Manners(?) steps into the elevator with him and at the end of the trip, the doors open and they're on the streets of LA. Manners tells Angel he won't be able to kill the SP because, they are the humans in the world. Evil lives in all of them, so if he wants to destroy the Senior Partners of the firm, he has to kill off humanity.
Which makes the FE the CEO of W&H.....
And throws up some very disturbing questions, imho, about that amulet Angel brought to SunnyD.
Bravo, Liz. You managed to spook me more than I already was.
