As I said up above, if Xander going "yeah, whatever" to Giles's offer to deliver the information to his parents works for you as a reader, I say stick with it. It's certainly a legitimate way to look at it, as far as I'm concerned. The comments were just my thought process at the time and, as I said in the red notes, there were times that I thought the readers actually honed in the right answers and I was actually wrong.
The Willow/"adult Xander" issue is a tough one to balance and I agree that maybe finer slicing was needed. The problem, like I said, was that I had a "three bears" reaction, which isn't helpful if you're trying to judge. I didn't feel comfortable slicing it any finer, because just enough enough people missed that it was a Willow. On the other hand...honestly, I'm still a little stumped. That's mostly why I ended up leaving it as-is. I had no idea what to change or how to alter it so that it didn't become murkier.
