Hey- I got the hit too. I was running on emotion, and didn't have enough time to spin up to thoughts and evidence until after I'd read the fix, but add me to the list of people who were convinced that the main character was dead. I was far enough gone into the story that I didn't even stop to think about all the reasons why he couldn't be. Even the line with Alterna!Xander's confusion hit me with a weird rush of relief/worry "okay that's gotta be it. He's still alive. Oh ****, he's alive but he's missing somewhere random in town and no one knows where he is and he's dying."
Yeah. You done this one well.
I loved "move like a blur" - because she has to keep Haley moving so that Haley won't freak out too much and become useless, and moving like anything short of a blur is just too damn easy for a slayer.
I am adding this to my list of memories because wow, action scene, and I'm going to want to know how to write like this later.
Seriously?
